If you get a call from 202-456-1414, it's up to you to answer. They might be calling to hire you for your lackadaisical approach to file keeping. :D

I see that number and I'm always reminded of the scene in All The President's Men when (I think) Redford's Bob Woodward asks if you can dial the White House directly.

If there ever was an issue that should be bi-partisan it is vote by mail. Both sides know there really isn't any voter fraud (although one side claims there is as a red herring), and new research is showing vote by mail doesn't tend to favor one party over the other.

There's no way vote-by-mail does the Republicans any favors. Particularly in swing states where they are in power and they do stuff like close polling locations or limit voting hours in urban districts, both of which disproportionately affect minority voters, single parents working multiple jobs, etc.

Of course, it was always possible to lie on your application for an absentee ballot, but in states that don't have no-excuse absentee voting it definitely scared some people off.

Both sides do know it. That's why the Republicans are trying to stop it, selectively.

Vote by Mail is not helpful to the Nazis right now. It offsets almost every action they take because the more votes the better for Blue right now.

Depends on the state. They need it in Appalachia which is why they don't oppose it there.

Basically, if blacks are getting the ballots they oppose it, if rednecks are getting them they support it. Because they're, ya know, principled conservatives.

Vote by mail didn't keep them from re-taking the seat in that special election California that had turned blue in 2018.

It might during a pandemic. Think of who's most likely to be a traditional voter who shows up on election day to vote in person, then think of who's the most at risk if they catch the virus. If you answered "old people" to both, you're correct. Old people are the GOP's base. If they're too afraid to show up on election day and don't have a viable alternative to casting their ballot, that screws the Republicans.

There Is No Evidence That Voting By Mail Gives One Party An Advantage
Could that change this fall?

Bottom line: By making it a little easier to vote, voting by mail probably increases the likelihood of the marginal Democratic voter engaging in the process. (Though younger and lower-income voters, who tend to vote at lower rates, also tend to not take advantage of voting by mail.) But it also makes it easier for more habitual older voters, who tend to vote more Republican than younger voters, to cast a ballot. Thus, on balance, any associated partisan effects from voting by mail have tended to cancel out.

Also noted though is 2020 might be a whole new ball game. In states where it is the practice, they went that way gradually, whereas we're looking at doing it on a large scale all at once in a lot of place now. Of course the bottom line should be we need to make it easier for anyone who can vote and wants to vote, to actually be able to vote. I might want the MAGAts to go away, but I'm not willing to take away their right to vote to do it.

So he wants to cut funding for schools because they state allows people to vote? That's supposed to help him win?

The women of Michigan don't play. <3 my home state.

Hi again. Still wrong. Every Michigan registered voter has a right to vote by mail. Won the state by 10,000 votes, but threaten to burn it down monthly because women that talk back are emasculating to him. Good electoral thinking.

And it's the same way he conducts foreign policy, which is scarier.
