Welp, found out who the "input from others" are:

Mnuchin was trying to figure out how to re-open his wife's legs. Turns out a crisp $100 bill did the trick.

Re: POTUS 45.63: This Thread Gets Better Ratings Than The Super Bowl

nah, she doesn't open those legs for him for anything less than $500. She's got expensive tastes, you know.

Re: POTUS 45.63: This Thread Gets Better Ratings Than The Super Bowl

Anyone have any doubts that Trump will threaten to withhold federal aid money to any state governor that won't relax their social distancing standards, and make people go back to work?

That's exactly what he'll do. Just like how they threaten to take away federal highway funds for states that don't make the drinking age 21.

No doubt. POS gonna POS.

He has total authority. Just said it at his press conference.

Neither the POTUS nor any of the governors taking these steps really have the power to shut things down, beyond government services under their immediate control, so it’s sort of a silly argument.

I mean, you say that, but your party’s leader doesn’t agree

He has the authority that people are willing to give him and the lick-spittle Republicans and right wing judges are willing to give him everything.

Totalitarian states are created with consent of a portion of the population. The right in this country has decided they will do anything for power. Anything. So we better hope so much of the population votes Democratic that your party doesn't win again, because if they do our system of government is over.

Governors most likely do depending on the State's disaster/ emergency statutes.
I agree they have some limited powers under those statutes, but I’m pretty skeptical they are broad enough to allow the governor to just shut down selected businesses for however long the governor deems fit. They are succeeding only because most people think it’s the right thing to do. Thus, challenges aren’t really being raised.

It’s sort of amusing that you continue with your totalitarian accusations when we’re seeing “totalitarian” conduct left and right supported by your side included, power that Trump only dreams of (and now apparently claims he has.)

It's been a long time for me, uno; does farmer Filburn figure into the mix on this issue at the fed level?

Please specify.

Are you talking about closing stuff down during an epidemic? I'm pretty sure the only people who find that "totalitarian" were weaned too early and bottle fed on William Graham Sumner as compensation.

Out of curiosity, are you planning to vote for Dump? For your Republican member candidate in your state?

And what would be too far for you, if kids in cages, wholesale mendacity, undermining of elections, treason, unprecedented corruption, and ineptitude only bested by the prior Republican administration, is not?

Asking for a friend.

No, I don't think you understand. HE HAS total authority. And wow, did he attack the female reporter who dared question him about it.
