POTUS 45.59: It Was a Great Phone Call

The game of "What if Obama did it" isn't funny anymore.

Stop playing it. They don't care. There are different rules for Republicans in office than when Democrats are in charge. Democrats aren't allowed to be in charge. That's the only rule they live by.

Re: POTUS 45.59: It Was a Great Phone Call

Not even. They don't bother with justifying it. Its just the way it should be. Democrats have no legal authority over them.

But when pressed, that is what a lot of them will say. They'll ramble on and on about the Democrats and Big Tech putting them in camps, deplatforming and shadowbanning conservative figures and opinions, forcibly moving illegals and refugees into their neighborhoods, etc. etc. If we don't stop them, they'll do it to us.

It's classic fascist rhetoric.

They'll also talk about budget deficits, and strict Constitutionalism, and a lot of other highbrow rhetoric to justify doing the things they do. They don't care about any of it, and they certainly don't believe it. Its just bull**** they feed to the rabid base.

Re: POTUS 45.59: It Was a Great Phone Call

They don't care. Republicans believe Democrats shouldn't be allowed to govern. That they are illegitimate office holders.

As Kep said, Republicans want to be in charge, by any means necessary. Laws, norms, Constitution be dammed. All that matters is them wielding power, any way they can.

So, the US is going through a mass cognitive dissonance plague that only affects the already brain dead?

Yeah, but their Constitutionalism is complete bs. They've never read the document. The people falling for it have never read it either. We need to do a better job in our public schools.

No, the US is going through the struggle to decide if we want to be a democratic republic, or a totalitarian regime run by Republican fascists. The soul of our country is at stake. 200+ years of the American experiment.

I see. So it's worse than I thought. How is that possible? I'm the resident "scorched earth" around here.

Did I not say that? And education won't matter. THEY DO NOT CARE.

All they care about is power. By any means necessary.

When we try to do that, they'll complain that dem librul teachurz are making up their own "living, breathing" interpretations of it unless the lesson plan teaches only strict constructionist views.

They are arguing right now that the House is Unconstitutional for starting the impeachment inquiry with a vote. There's NOTHING in there that says they have to do that. Nothing. They can do whatever they want but they can't just make **** up.

Yes, they can just make **** up. Have you not been paying attention the last 20 years?

Re: POTUS 45.59: It Was a Great Phone Call

Hey, hold a vote for an impeachment inquiry then. Not tomorrow as that makes it look like Chump is calling the shots, but if the Nazi's want to up the ante with a losing hand so be it. I think the last thing you need is to hear from both whistleblowers in closed testimony. Once that's done its off to the races.

Isn't the problem that once they hold a vote (and presumably vote in favor) that the Republicans then get subpoena power, and maybe some other things? It seems to me I heard something like that in the discussion over why no vote has been scheduled.

That's up to the Dems to grant it to them (GOP changed the rules the last time they were in power). I've also read that you could give the minority party subpoena power but the committee could overrule their request. That may have been the set-up previously.

“JUST IN: “The Kurds are fighting for their land... they didn’t help us in the second World War, they didn’t help us with Normandy as an example," President Trump said defending pulling troops helping Kurdish U.S. allies who are now facing brutal attacks from Turkey”
