Re: POTUS 45.57: We Should Have Voted for Zaphod Beeblebrox Instead.

That's the whole point. The original mistake was just Dump talking out of his as-s as usual -- a mistake, no big deal.

The serious problem is his inability to let it go, his tripling down, his desperately lying about it. That is the insight into the man's mind. Not that we needed it -- Dump has shown literally hundreds of times while in office that he is a classic NPD with thin skin. But it's a very dramatic example because while not many people can imagine lying about a call girl, or receiving hundreds of millions from their daddy, or actively stealing an election, we can all put ourselves in the position of the guy who makes a mistake and then triples down so not to be shown up because we have all been 11 years old, and the very thought that a 70-year old is still doing it is deeply shocking.

Dump has no emotional maturity. He is not a fully developed adult. That is appalling.

This is very well said, but for the first time ever you are understating the truth. Most people are never fully mature adults. Around half (I'm guessing) never function as adults at all but are caught somewhere in adolescence. Trump truly is child-like. As in the fake news hurricane cone, he has the reactionary emotional processes of a newly weaned toddler with severe trust issues.

Re: POTUS 45.57: We Should Have Voted for Zaphod Beeblebrox Instead.

Yes, it's everything. The worst thing about Dump isn't the stupidity or the ignorance, as bad as those are. It isn't even the craven lack of character. It's that he has no adult understanding of human relations. He's is an actual perpetual toddler.

nm, I see you're already calibrated.

No one supports our troops better than the GOP!

Holy sh-t.

Re: POTUS 45.57: We Should Have Voted for Zaphod Beeblebrox Instead.

Just more right-wing "Let's consolidate existing overlapping services."

Because why should our troops get speedier responses for their calls for help by people who better understand what our service members may be going through? Let them call the 800 number like everyone else.

Trump likes his veterans dealing with their problems like real men: going to the VFW at 9:30 AM to drink away their problems.

Every issue you can ask yourself, does this effect the 1% of the population that has all the money? If the answer is "NO" then it doesn't really matter.

Re: POTUS 45.57: We Should Have Voted for Zaphod Beeblebrox Instead.

I just hope we all contribute a tenth of the time we spend here bych-preaching to the choir toward defeating Trump next year. Our words here are entertaining but accomplish nothing. In fact, if we continue to bych but do not donate considerable effort next year, we are the worst offenders of all, myself included.

I've already volunteered.

Re: POTUS 45.57: We Should Have Voted for Zaphod Beeblebrox Instead.

I've already volunteered.

I will be canvassing and working as a poll official as well as volunteering and donating money. I would like there to be a democratic form of government and a livable natural environment for my daughter's kids and there will be neither if the Nazis win again.

This is our last chance.

Re: POTUS 45.57: We Should Have Voted for Zaphod Beeblebrox Instead.

And he's also saying don't exercise our duty as citizens to oppose tyranny because it might be bad politically.

That statement is worthy of the current DNC leadership.

We have no idea how it might play out politically. For all we know voters might respond positively to the Dems attempting to Constitutionally remove a cancer on the Presidency. And it is unequivocally the right thing to do. Dump is the biggest danger to democracy, the United States, and the world.

No that isnt...but leave it to you to once again completely miss the point while trying to make yourself sound more important whilst doing so. (MUST FIGHT THE TYRANNY OF LYING ABOUT THE WEATHER!!!!1!!!)

This has zero to do with trying to remove Trump (unless you are actually naive enough to think this counts as impeachable...in which case you should sue Cornell) and everything to do with picking your battles. I know I hurt your feelings attacking TPM but have a little perspective buddy. Trump is a moron, you want to get him get him for the stuff that actually matters. If screwing up the weather is now a crime every meteorologist in the Upper Midwest is going to jail :p

Re: POTUS 45.57: We Should Have Voted for Zaphod Beeblebrox Instead.

If Trump gets reelected, there's no chance of impeachment with consequences because the Senate isn't flipping either. Do it now, make it miserable for him, get some rage tweeting that exposes himself for some other illegal activities.

Rinse and repeat.

At this point I a not sure you have much to lose. I am still wary of the consequences (and it could backfire spectacularly) but this will be your one shot barring something ridiculous happening. If you want to impeach now is your best shot. But when trying to assassinate the king, you better not miss.

I think he was referring to The Rube, but go ahead and pitch your hissy if it makes you feel better.

And, actually, what Trump did was breaking the law. It may not matter to you, this normalization of his bad acts may have you so beaten down and inured to it you no longer give a crap, but that's how it is. You start accepting the little crap, and pretty soon, you've got a fascist in charge of your country. How to boil a frog.

You're gonna miss anyway. as long as the Senate is in Republican hands, not one of them is going to stand up and vote to convict Trump. Doesn't mean you don't impeach him anyway.

And then you spend an entire electoral period holding those Republican's feet to the fire for that vote. That's how you take your Senate, and your country, back.

Re: POTUS 45.57: We Should Have Voted for Zaphod Beeblebrox Instead.

And its not just a weather forecast. Its every single one of his policies. They don't work, they're bad, they make things worse, even the industries he's gutting regulations on don't want them gutted, he just doubles down and keeps claiming things are just fine. Because he can't be wrong, he knows more about everything than anyone.

His tariffs being the most obvious and easily seen example.

Right...which are the battles we need to fight. Everything the guy does is a failure outside of being born to a rich family.

We need to destroy this clown and we need to do it with both barrels. I am not saying ignore anything I said hit him with it and move on. Let him rage tweet about it til the sun explodes. We dont need to engage. That isnt "supporting tyranny" and it isnt normalizing his behavior (sadly that was done long ago) it is actually not fighting his fight. The GOP wants the Left running around whining about this for days. Not because they are master strategists (although Sicatoka would disagree ;) ) but because they know the ways to get the Left on tilt and the Left cant help themselves. Every minute this is being discussed is a minute they arent discussing the bigger deals out there that cause WAY more damage. Christ there is more coverage of this stupid weather thing than there is of the fact that the Pentagon is delaying projects to fund the border wall no one seems to want. Until the Left can fight off its tunnel vision it is best to focus on the bigger things IMHO.

Now...if one of the candidates wants to take shots at him about it every so often to troll him that I can get behind. Turn the tables on the clown. Dont let him bait you though which is 100% what he is doing now.

We should have a beer and talk someday. You have some odd ideas about me.

That isnt what I mean...obviously the GOP wont touch him. What I mean is you need to have all the ducks in a row, an airtight case. When the Senate ignores it you need to make sure they look as ridiculous as they are for brushing it aside. The only way to make sure this doesnt backfire in 2020 is to be able to present an open and shut case and have them ignore it. It has to be obvious...not just to us but to the average person. (i.e. anyone not a Trumper) You need to make sure John Q. Public can look at everything and see all the dots connected. If it is too vague or over the head it wont resonate with the people.

And yes, in this case they do matter. Impeachment in this case is about making the larger case (the one the candidates might not be able to make) to the voting public about why this clown needs to be removed. Impeachment is the Indictment and the people are the Jury since the Senate has given up all authority. It has to be well above conjecture so that every person who walks into the booth has to reconcile within their head that they are either voting for sanity, or out and out criminality. We know a good percentage will do that...he has a locked in number. But we want to A) get the Dems who stayed home motivated to come out and B) get even a few of the swing voters that flipped his way to change their mind. The magic number is like 100k in 3 states. You make the right Impeachment case you will crush that.

That right now is all I care about.

Re: POTUS 45.57: We Should Have Voted for Zaphod Beeblebrox Instead.

I think he was referring to The Rube, but go ahead and pitch your hissy if it makes you feel better.

Oh. He's reacting because this particular branch started with cf's response to Handy which I then tag-teamed in on. So I was responding to him, but not at all remembering it was he. I had to go back an extra page of the thread to find the OP from which this came.

So maybe he's angry about that because he thinks I was dissing him. I wasn't. Handy, I apologize if I seemed to be.

But I was agreeing with cf in disagreeing with you. In my opinion: (1) it's not settled that it is better politically for the Dems not to start impeachment proceedings, and (2) even were it I think it is still our duty.
