Re: POTUS 45:53: I Didn't Appoint That Judge So It Doesn't Matter.

An anti-establishment candidate just won on overturning our political system that mostly caters to crony capitalism and Rube's brilliant strategy is to get a mostly establishment friendly centrist who more or less runs on doing nothing. Gee I wonder why...

Re: POTUS 45:53: I Didn't Appoint That Judge So It Doesn't Matter.

I'm just trying to get over how I already live in a socialist state? We have Social Security (with disability no lesss), Medicaid, Medicare. Welfare. This is all bad bad stuff.

The word triggers a fear response for a large part of the R base, something the party has been taking advantage of for decades with that and other triggers like race, ethnicity and gender preference.

I have no clue what you're getting at here. The sentences tie themselves in knots every time I read them.

It's just a jump to the right
And a step to the leeeeeeft

So spaketh the last 40 years.

The Right never has any problem with radical rhetoric and sweeping changes in policy; indeed when they do it it energizes their supporters and improves their election results. Only the Left is cautioned not to attempt it. The Left has self-neutering voices from within... and they lose. The Right doesn't... and they win.

Re: POTUS 45:53: I Didn't Appoint That Judge So It Doesn't Matter.

Trump will call the Dem socialist no matter who wins the nomination. The DNC could run Reagan’s head a la Futurama and he’d be called socialist, because the calling card for this election is going to be yelling “Illegal Immigration!” And “Venezuela!” over and over again.

This is the old R trick. To Bumblef-ck America, anything short of a complete capitulation to the rich = "Socialism" = "Communism" = "Satanism" = black guys DP'ing their daughter* while raiding their bank account.

* And she likes it. Won't someone think of the children?

He either wants Trump to win again (likely given that he accepts the right wing facebook meme framing of every issue) or he just wants nothing to change because the status quo is good enough for him, despite growing evidence that it's completely unsustainable (so much so that Trump got elected).

Got it. Thanks.

Well he is a conservative republican, he’s admitted that on here. Of course he doesn’t want a shift left. That’s why I never got why anyone yells at him about being a centrist. There are centrists out there, he’s just not one.

Cause he thinks he's a centrist. That's the joke.

This assumes that the Right are master legislators. They're not. Post Reagan, what legislation has the right enacted? I've got tax cuts for the rich and.....tax cuts for the rich?

True, I just find it funny that when he's not blatantly trolling, he's offering terrible political strategy to the other side (assuming that's also not blatant trolling).

LOL

They've accomplished everything the've wanted to accomplish. What part of 23 trillion dollars don't you get? Seriously.

The Centrists that remain are the DLC Democrats like Rover. They have their place but they shouldn't be driving one of the parties.

The frustrating thing is that of the thirds of the American electorate (liberals; centrists who are really "conservatives" at least in the sense of conserving the status quo; and radical quote conservatives who are in actuality fascists and the opposite of Burkean conservatives), the Democratic party has 2 of 3, and yet... here we are in the minority in government.

At some point the Democratic Liberals have to reclaim the party apparatus and tell the Democratic Centrists: come with me if you want to live. We cannot keep continuing to oscillate between radical 8-year lurches to the right and then desperate 8-year holding actions in which government is sabotaged by rightwing terrorists like Mitch. It's destroying America, and it's not doing the world any favors either.

IDK if it's so much solely legislation as much as the overton window clearly shifting to the right and the dems basically accepting or playing defense against the right wing framing of nearly every issue. The PATRIOT act which set up a huge domestic spying apparatus, crazy abortion laws straight out of the 1600's in a number of states, the numerous wars or overseas combat operations (Saudi Arms sales) and drone program, taxes on the rich/corporations lowering to historical levels, Obama threatening to slash social security for budgetary purposes, there's a lot I'm missing.

Pretty sure he directly benefits from it.

Hey now, gays can marry and that really ruined the daily lives of conservatives. Let us not forget that.

I see a 22 trillion dollar debt from lost fair tax revenue from the rich which prevents everything from single payer to a green new deal. And I see an enormous expansion in the military and in the military role in America life, which causes everything from forever war to terrorism to the erosion of civil liberties. And I see the loss of democratic institutions which keeps the former two gravy trains rolling.

I also see a lack of access to health care for women and a Court that doesn't see it that way. Turtle Boy's legacy.

And the imprisonment of an entire generation of non-whites in a desperate attempt to keep the electorate white.
