Whoever the candidate is, they need to avoid like the plague acting like whiny victims. Fair or not, the implication of having suffered injustice is that you are weak. Play hardball. Go negative. But be smart about it, and identify the victims as regular wage earners living month to month.

I think you defeatists are misreading things. Trump only appeals to his base. The 2M or so Sanders/Send A Message voters who voted for Trump thinking he wouldn't win aren't going to make that mistake again. There are no average voters, only 1) Cult Members (who go by the name Republicans but who might as well be renamed Trumpists) and 2) Everybody else. If Everybody else votes Dem, you get an election like 2008, 2012 or 2018. If they sit home with one thumb in their mouths and one thumb up their arses ala Scooby hoping that bad news comes their way, then they'll be rewarded with bad news - Trump's re-election.

I'm not sure what you are getting at, since many R's voted to do the exact same thing.

Right NOW, maybe one or two hung their hats on impeaching dumpy. The rest ran on issues, and won handily. Don't change that, and use whatever bad things come out between now and next November as a bonus.

They had a number of ways they were going to avoid him testifying including taking the 5th. So, that was never going to happen. That being said I would have preferred having him on the record taking the 5th than Mueller and Barr bending over for him.
