It’s actually true. True blue Catholics shouldn’t be confused with the US brand of evangelical Protestant (rednecks waving the stars and bars around). They are extremely hierarchical/authoritarian/federalist/Great Society in principle. Take a look at the charities/goals they sponsor. It looks like FDR’s platform.

Maybe 50 years ago....today's Catholics are a majority R, given the values, esp when it comes to gays/LGBT and abortion.

Well, I don't really trust the Church. And I was raised old school Roman Catholic. They say one thing and do another.

The instant this report is made public (however much of it sees the light of day) all the previous indictments, guilty pleas and convictions that resulted from Mueller's work will be nothing but a memory to most people. All we may see is lots of people saying "two years for THIS?"

That let down may be more damaging than you think, especially if it dampens and derails enthusiasm among people on the left. That is the rub I have been worried about all along. If you're going after big game, you better bring it down.

And a bunch of sycophants chanting "lock her up" at Mar-A-Lago has nothing to do with that. We all know the Trumpers believe their own version of reality...the more CNN and the Scoobys of the world obsess about it and talk about it the harder it is to ignore.

Those people arent changing their mind, so forget them and move on. The more time we waste talking about them the less time we have to beat them senseless in the election. 35% of the population is lost for now...the rest seethem for what they are. The question is whether they are motivated enough to stop them. If they shut off cable news from time to time they would realize things arent as dire as they think they are.

It's always the point I am making. They have spent the last 40 years destroying my country and where I live. I will die before anything really changes.


EDIT: Sunday Shows this morning are all about how they have nothing on Trump and they need to reopen investigations on Clinton. It's no wonder Democrats have depressed turnout in elections.

But people aren't shutting off the cable TV (or ignoring their social media feeds). As has been pointed out many times, the 30+ year indoctrination, starting first on "news"talk radio with people like Limbaugh and then moving over to TV and Fox News has warped the thinking of the 35%. The same thing is probably happening to the other side and all of the people tuning in to CNN and MSNBC. Black voters, in large numbers in some places, could not be bothered to vote for Clinton after their excitement of seeing Barack Obama elected and then re-elected. If progressives see their motivation wane because they sense the Mueller investigation ended up falling far short of their expectations (an incorrect reading of history, just like their incorrect Monday morning quarterbacking of the 2018 mid-terms) results of the 2020 election could be disastrous.

I'm completely willing to give up on 30-35% of the voters out there. What we all have to guard against is giving up on the chance 5-10% of OUR side will no longer be motivated enough to do something in November of 2020.

It appears Trump tweeted “Good Morning” and “MAGA” this morning simply to avoid his previous record of 46 hours without a tweet, which occurred during the Comey hearing.

That may have been true in a pre-1960 world when virtually all Dem pols were male and, at least publicly, anti-choice. It's definitely no longer the case. Probably more like 50/50, similar to the flock.
