Castro is also one lynch pin of the middle term strategy of locking down Latinos as a core Democratic constituency that views the GOP as Hitler with worse breath. (The other lynch pin is the behavior of the GOP itself.)

A permanent resident caucus of Latinos as a third of the electorate and at least half the Democratic coalition will give them an ENORMOUS force multiplier. That is the true win-win.

The Progressives should change the agenda from the bottom up. If they want it shifted farther left they need to do it as part of a coalition, not by drawing a line in the sand.

As a card-carrying member of the crazy socialist wing of the party I fully endorse this.

The End Game is to have a socialist movement in this country so we can have the priorities and strong economy / high quality of life of Germany and the Scands. That is a multi-generation effort. The far right was able to capture the GOP by taking a little at a time and being willing to compromise behind the scenes while always shouting bloody murder in the front row. That is worth stealing.

So if we stop providing money for international and global development, just what do the Trumpies think is gonna happen? I'm sure China and Russia would be glad to step into that vacuum, even though Russia is more broke than we are. But somehow, I can't see them overlooking an opportunity like this just cause of a little money shortfall.

Those morons think we spend 20% of our GDP on foreign aid, when we actually spend about one half of 1%.

They think it's going to make a difference. You know, like defunding the arts. :rolleyes:

AA has endorsed that any time Trump acts presidential their members may drink. That should ensure cold sobriety.

To put it in different terms, the entire budget for the State Department and USAID is less than the proposed 10% increase in military spending.

Ryan and McConnell have to know this is a sh-t sandwich, right? So, Trump throws his Idiot Bill to Congress, the Dems block cloture, McConnell turtles, Trump storms and demands a Kristallnacht of anybody not bowing and scraping low enough to him, and McConnell says he will resist the temptation to end the supermajority "for the good of the country" while meanwhile slinking back into his shell and thanking The Eldritch Lords that that the GOP snuck past that dagger.

He is apparently not endorsing any of the Health Care Plans either...so we are raising the Defense Budget and everything else can get bent.
