Re: POTUS 45:48: There's Always Barber College

So, you didn't get even a little bit more take-home pay?

Irrelevant. Sure, they cut my withholding. They cut everyone's. But if you read the articles that are coming out everyone's ticked about that because they're doing their taxes and getting no refund. The number that matters, the only number that matters is how much you pay in total to the Feds in taxes. I came out even. I did not get a tax cut.

I will be very interested to see once they start writing about it how many got nothing and how many got something. My accountant made it pretty clear to me who got the big breaks and who did not. But, I'll wait for the data.

Nothing says class like a "Trail of Tears" joke.

Yep, he went there...

This POTUS is gutter trash, but we knew that.

If there's anything that would possibly make even the die-hardest of the die-hard Trumpers to turn on him, this would be it.

Unless they think blacks and browns are getting screwed more. Then they won’t care.

Your scenario is what I expected, which I why I didn't count on a refund. However the reality is that my income went up 9% this year, my withholding was about 4% lower, and my actual taxes owed to the feds were also 4-5% lower. So, my refund was even bigger than last year.

I guess I benefited from the grift. *shrug*

Unless I did it all wrong, in which case I expect a 5 AM no-knock raid on my apartment at some point in the coming weeks. :D

republicans only turn on their own when they speak the truth. trump could fvck their daughter, dog and wife and a trump supporter would find a way to be OK with it. Despite the fact he voted with trump 90% of the time in 2017, by 2018 only 1 in five Arizona republicans had a favorable view of Jeff Flake. The republican party is 100% the party of trump. What trump says is all that matters, and nothing he says bothers his supporters because they believe everything he says. After 40 years of indoctrination, republicans have finally found their Jim Jones.

Mick Mulvaney this morning. "We're against a green new deal".

Analysis. Republicans are calling it socialism and it's a good thing for them. Rich Lowery.

Government cannot achieve it, only the private sector can.

Moral of the story I guess. Every time the Democrats propose something bold the Republicans and the Wall Street Journal call it socialism. Meanwhile the fossil fuel industry continues to receive it's subsidies including massive Industrial Military Complex spending.

42 million new taxpayers? Oh, no.

42 million new taxpayers? Oh, no.

I don’t care what color they are, I’m not super excited about the prospect of a US population growing to 400+million. Our cities are already unaffordable and you know people aren’t going to move to rural areas. Sprawl is also destroying the character of many places.

I wish we could come up with an economic model that didn’t require constant growth. For the sake of the planet we should be downsizing our population, but it’s just not possible without economic collapse.
