POTUS 45.44: "That's Not Law" said Trump

So dumpy wants to coerce a company to do something...

From what I've seen, the only subsidies that GM gets from the government is the Electric Car Credits (passed as legislature in '09, extended with Trump's budget bill last year).

The electric car subsidies are actually a credit for the consumer who buys the car. This knocks 7k off the price of the car, which GM gets only when people buy a car. And, it's written in law that after 200,000 electric vehicles are sold, the credit is no longer given. Tesla just crossed that threshold earlier in the year, GM is close themselves.

Basically, Trump told GM that he was going to make a poorly selling car more expensive to the public.

For the record, I'm not thrilled with the styling of the Volt, but I thought the hybrid aspect was awesome for the fact that if I did run out of battery power, the gas generator would get me the rest of the way. As someone who is six hours from family, the Volt would be preferred over the Bolt (the all battery, SUV-ish, Volt)

*Edit* (I also get the feeling after hitting submit post is you already knew that though. :) )

The point isn't that the mechanism that is being proposed is useless, it's that he's trying to make a company do something that is bad for making money, via the government. For R's, that has always been a bad thing to do.

Kind of funny.

Um, Mueller's agreement with Manafort didn't include a no disclosures or no conversations or a gag provision?

Is that normal? I'd have thought part of any agreement would've included such an "only talk to us" clause. Something just seems wrong there.

From CNN.

“The President should understand that even dangling a pardon in front of a witness like Manafort is dangerously close to obstruction of justice.” - New York Rep. Jerry Nadler on the possibility of the President pardoning Paul Manafort

Democrats can't take over the House soon enough.

The Bolt seems like a fine car if you weren't going more than 100 miles. I know a power coop in ND has one. The biggest issue I've heard about it is the battery really dips when it comes out of their heated garage into the ND cold in winter.

Q: Mr. President, have you read the climate report yet?

TRUMP: I’ve seen it, I’ve read some of it, and it’s fine.

Q: They say economic impact could be devastating – of climate change.

TRUMP: Yeah. I don’t believe it.

Q: You don’t believe it?

TRUMP: No. No. I don’t believe it. And here’s the other thing – you’re going to have to have China, and Japan, and all of Asia, and all of these other countries – you know, it – it addresses our country. Right now, we’re at the cleanest we’ve ever been, and that’s very important to me. But if we’re clean but every other place on Earth on is dirty, that’s not so good.

We're good. No lead in the water anywhere. No arsenic. Everything is clean. That island of trash in the pacific isn't our problem.

Supposedly, Manafort has a joint defense agreement with Red Don, which allows their lawyers to share info.

Speculation is, Mueller knew Manafort was lying from the beginning, and used this to allow Manafort to think he believed the story Manafort was selling, and to also pass this on to Red Don.

Note, Mueller didn't file this notice until he got Red Don's written responses. Responses which may reiterate a series of events which Mueller already knows to be false.

THERE IS NO SMALL TRUCK MARKET BECAUSE OF THE CHICKEN TAX.

*finds a paper bag to breathe into*

The chicken tax is one HUGE reason why Toyota and Nissan build trucks here in the US. Employing a lot of people.

It's stupid, not quite as stupid as the Jones Act, but it did eventually lead to stuff being made here instead of being imported here.

(not to comment on dumpy's comment- just using it as a quote of the tax).

But aren't the Toyota and Nissan US built trucks full sized? The Chicken Tax seems to affect the small truck market (Hilux, Navara, Triton, Ute).

It is interesting how he always tries to set the narrative 1. without facts. and 2. Ahead of any real information coming out. He's still playing Celebrity Apprentice and every one of his devoted followers is still along for the ride.

Special counsel Robert Mueller is treating former Donald Trump campaign chairman Paul Manafort "like a terrorist," the president's personal lawyer, Rudy Giuliani, told NBC News on Wednesday.

Rudy's Back.

I'm curious as to what his choice of cereal was to chant during his initiation. Cocoa Pebbles seems to have good cadence to it.

Actually it covers Light Duty Trucks, which actually span up to 8500lb, so from tiny trucks up to some of the smaller F350 sizes. Which is also the entire class of trucks that are treated just like cars WRT emissions and whatnot. Once you get past 8500lb, the rules change (as do the tests when you get past 10,000lb).
