Re: POTUS 45.40: If You Need a Lawyer, Don't Hire Michael Cohen

I guarantee someone in his staff told him it was wrong long before all of this. No offense but you are being incredibly naive. It isnt like everyone he works with has zero knowledge of politics or experience.

No. It's pretty clear they're this ****ing stupid. It's written all over the place. His entire Twitter Account for example.

Re: POTUS 45.40: If You Need a Lawyer, Don't Hire Michael Cohen

Yeah, except the rich and famous are constantly buying people off. Maybe it's to hush up about an affair. Maybe it's to cover up a sex tape or something else. Nothing about those payoffs are illegal. My guess is Trump has made many of them.

Suddenly he does it when he's a candidate and someone who is actually smart tells them, after the fact, that the payoff constitutes a felony campaign financing law violation, I have to believe the look on their faces would have been pretty funny.

Even if he lost, it was still illegal. And given the investigation that looked into russia was going on, the odds of this coming out where already very close to 100%. Remember, once he became THE candidate, he got daily briefings.

But if he didn't know this law- what other laws does he not know about? And how in the world can anyone lead the Executive branch not knowing the laws that you are supposed to enforce? All that line of thinking does is show how utterly incompetent dumpy is to be the President. That's it.

No, he knew, and figured that nobody would try to go get him on it. Just like he knows about the emoluments clause that is clearly laid out in the Constitution, but he figures nobody will do anything about it.

He's dumb, but not that dumb- that he's not aware of the laws.

Either way you look at it, he does not have the capacity to be the president.

I believe he has already proven that you can be President of the United States and be dumber than a post about the job of President.

Re: POTUS 45.40: If You Need a Lawyer, Don't Hire Michael Cohen

It's possible, but I just don't think they're that smart, at least those in the inner circle who would have been privy to the payoff. I doubt that the payoff discussions went far beyond Trump and Cohen themselves.

Plus, you couple the stupidity with this belief of theirs that they are somehow the smartest guys in the room, it would be very easy to make screw ups like this one.

I guess the reason that I don't think they figured out ahead of time that it is illegal is this. If they were smart enough to figure out that it violates campaign finance laws, then why weren't they smart enough to figure out a way of getting the job done in a way in which it's much more difficult to prove that it violated campaign finance laws. Cohen paying it and then billing Trump for it isn't exactly the work of clever individuals well versed in campaign finance law.

Because I think they figure no would even look into it and even if they did Trump would just get them to stop and they would because he is President. Or he didnt believe what his advisers told him, which happens every single day in his White House.

You assume their stupidity is that they were just ignorant, my assumption is their stupidity is that they figure after the fact it wont matter anyways. Trump assumes he has Emperor level power so some flunky telling him not to do something is only going to make him do it more. Cohen wouldnt know anything anyways he isnt the President.

I am sorry, I understand these are the most incompetent people to hold office in the modern era but this stinks more of ego than stupidity.

Well, Nixon was one smart cookie and he said this so I guess you may have a point.

I'm voting for stupid myself. The 35% are going with "Witch Hunt". The President is going with "Witch Hunt".

By the way. Why isn't the ***** in jail yet? Manafort is in jail. Cohen is going to jail. A few more probably. Seems to me that ***** should be in jail right now.

If only there had been some kind of warning late in 2015 and throughout 2016 about how egotistical Trump was as a businessman. If only there were stories written about how he fired people who "dared to defy him" by telling him "No!" Why didn't anyone warn us that he was a snake oil salesman pedaling his wares to anyone who would buy his schtick? Why wasnt ink spilled writing about how the "great negotiator" was really just a sh*tty negotiator and relied on bully tactics and non-payment to get his way? Who ever could have foreseen the lies that would be spun as "New Truth?"

No one cared. Those of us who did were shouting at the wind.

We got what we deserved, I’m afraid.

I am not sure we will ever know for sure. We cant trust any of these clowns to tell the truth even with their neck on the line.

Speak for yourself. Just because you were too lazy and stupid to see the truth doesnt mean we all were. Reap the worldwind.

F U man. You got what you deserved, as I thought he was a crook and an a hole early on.

You ignored it, and bought whatever anyone was selling to make you afraid of anything Democrat. Even in spite of the facts that they generally do what you want to do.

This is more on you than the rest of the country.

Re: POTUS 45.40: If You Need a Lawyer, Don't Hire Michael Cohen

I couldn’t agree more. Unfortunately, we’re all on this ride together. Trump has been a wake up call for me and hopefully others as well.

How about you and your fearful buddies just stop voting and crawl out into the woods to be ignored?

Re: POTUS 45.40: If You Need a Lawyer, Don't Hire Michael Cohen

Let me ask this question, not just of you alfa, but of others here.

Do you guys think that Cohen and/or Trump knew the Daniels payoff was an illegal campaign donation?

See I don't, and that's what I find a bit amusing about the situation for them.

I don't think they had a clue that campaign finance laws would be triggered by that payoff, that's how stupid and in over their heads they were in this campaign.

It certainly doesn't excuse the conduct. It's illegal and I have no problem with prison sentences for violators.

But what the story really shows is how Trump's advisors basically take his lead and "wing" everything, as opposed to actually sitting down and thinking through problems and figuring out whether you can actually do something or not.

Regardless, it will be a convenient way for the Trumpnuts to scream about how he was "screwed" by the Deep State and entrapped by laws he didn't know about.

2) if they didn't know, then Cohen is a pretty bad lawyer and dumpy is a pretty bad candidate for choosing bad lawyers and a whole lot of people who were working for him. Exactly what we don't want as President.

Cohen's J.D. was from Cooley, so that's a given. It's safe to say he knows as much about the law as the average guy who stayed at a Holiday Inn Express last night.

Would be nice but then who would be left to call for more Benghazi investigations?

About that deep state- if it's indeed fact, we are almost 2 years into this presidency, and he's done nothing to address it. Not one single thing. Which either suggests that it does not exist, or that he's a horrible president (or both).

That could have been addressed on day 1. Just like all of the "draining of the swap" BS that been sold. Instead, it's the draining of our wallets for his and his cronies benefit. When are charges going to be brought against Pruitt???

My home state and state I live in went for Hillary. I’m a registered dem now so not sure what else I should do.

Trump wasn’t an overnight phenomenon. There were a lot of things that enabled him to become president and we need to encourage people to be informed and involved. Just ridiculing rural people isn’t the answer.

That's a good start. But you'll have to gain the reality that often the right lacks. Nobody's been ridiculing rural people.
