Re: POTUS 45.4 - What's a Battle?

This is scary sh*t:

Most importantly:

This complete imbecile is putting us into situations that are going to wreak havoc. Jeezuz.

Yeah but you know what this will lead too...half the country ripping our allies (FREEDOM FRIES!!!!!11) and talking about how Russia is the only country we can trust. This is the world we live in...

Re: POTUS 45.4 - What's a Battle?

I'm not an atheist, but for politics I recommend the Feb. 15 Sam Harris "Waking Up" pod, he easily destroys the delusions that the alternate reality of the Trump Presidency is in any way normal, or that Islam is just a benign religion that should be admired by people who care about people.

Re: POTUS 45.4 - What's a Battle?

For the others, we'll have to trust that foreign governments understand that our Presidents are just a temporary thing.

I can all but guarantee that in every national capital around the world our diplomats are telling world leaders: "I know this is dumb, but it's temporary." This is like the final 3 years of Reagan: the president is taking his nap, don't wake him up.

Re: POTUS 45.4 - What's a Battle?

Smerconish mentioned an angle on the Melania lawsuit I hadn't thought of: now she has to give a deposition. I doubt she knows anything beyond buying shoes and how to take her mind away to a happy place during those brief but hideous moments in public with a rich troll, but on the off chance she's actually a party to this grand grift, getting deposed under oath is not going to do this family any good.

Re: POTUS 45.4 - What's a Battle?

Another reason not to be suicidal about 2016: the rust belt has been hemorrhaging EV for decades and continues to.

States where a combination of demographics and settlement by Ivy-encrusted northeastern liberals and Bay Area-born west coast greens have been bulking up in the Electoral College, and these have either gone blue (OR, CO, NM) or are in the process of doing so (NV, FL, VA, NC, eventually AZ).

So although I fully expect PA, MI and OH to be gathered back up into the blue fold once they realize what a crock of sh-t Trump's GOP is, even if they aren't they are a sinking vessel.

I don't see it. They don't really care if they're drinking lead or not so why would anything else matter?

Weren't you saying that H would win in 2016 because of the migrations into NC and GA?

I recognize the almost superhuman ability of the white working class to ignore its own self-interest and play into the hands of GOP ideologues, but what they hate the most is being patronized. The Deranged Billionaire Party treats blue collar workers like the old farm dog: pat them on the head right up until the day they're no longer cost effective and then a bullet in the head. Now add that they were promised milk and honey by the Toad Prince, and you have a recipe for them boomeranging against the right in 2020 to "show them a thing or two." Since the WWC appears to be now mobilized entirely by resentment, the natural path of resentment runs through Richie Rich's conservatory.

I think she was just citing an example. Based on last nights interview I could blame Sarandon. We'll see if there's anything left after (4) years. I have my doubts.

Dunham. Clooney. Sarandon. <-- circular firing squad lining up in Hollywood? ;) :D

I was saying H had a much better chance than T due to demographics and Nerd Flight into purpling states, yes. I stand by that, doubly so since future tickets with have ~H.

When they start producing terrorists in the same proportion that Catholics produce kid-****ing priests, we'll revisit this discussion.

Meanwhile. Thank God white people are so downright inept at this stuff.

Well, the delusion goes further. From what I see all around me the Democrats are already getting blamed for screwing up this Presidency. Mitch goes out and says the Dems are delaying things they can't delay (they have zero power beyond the filibuster which as far as I can see they haven't really used yet) and it's being bought, hook, line, and sinker.

So, when they don't get the milk and honey it will be the Democrats fault. It's really an interesting thing the GOP has built. They have insulated themselves from all blame by getting a new reality instituted in America. The only chance is to do what John Oliver said and break down the lies by getting people to see the truth (the man behind curtain a.k.a. The Wizard of Oz effect).
