This is correct. You should not use lower case r as an attempt to insult Republicans. Small r republican means something entirely different -- Madison, Hamilton and Washington were all republicans.

I'm having second thoughts about being a democrat after the last election.

I'd like to believe in this, but unfortunately I'm too old and jaded to believe people can govern themselves without some formal political ruleset. The "DNA strand" of people in groups seems to naturally bend into an authoritarian helix. We need a counterweight to keep people free enough to pursue their personal fulfillment without having the strong just grind them into the dirt. The only effective counterweight yet invented is government, but I am open to other candidates.

Until they stand up to don, they are all the same bunch.

For all of the Constitutional crisis that they claimed for President Obama, there are some pretty clear ones going on here, and nothing is being done. Stuff that is really easy- like don actually selling his property in DC so that it's not in direct violation of the contract he signed.

Right now, every single one is following the r party line. Letting don lead them down a path that I don't see as very healthy to this country- many times eating into the core Democracy that we have (come on- 3M illegal voters without PROOF??? Geezus, or letting the general public sit in on what should have been a very secure and private meeting over an international incident???).

At least stand up to what is clearly obvious and not based on some political agenda.

Leaving aside the lie which was just dumb...you are a learned fellow, his actions in dealing with Russia have to give you the red-*** a little bit right? I mean calling on non-secured lines, talking to Embassy workers about things he was not supposed to (a pattern with him) and allowing himself to be recorded doing it which makes him vulnerable? I expect those actions from a schmuck who makes Blizzards (**** you now I am hungry!!!) but not a former DIA Administrator and 3 Star General...

if Trump builds an autocracy, his congressional enablers will, if anything, be more responsible than him. After all, in amassing power and breaking troublesome norms, Trump will be doing what the Founders expected. But in letting any president do that, Congress will be violating the role they were built to play. We need to stop talking so much about what Trump will do and begin speaking in terms of what Congress lets him do.

The true difference between democrats and Democrats is...well, not much. The claim is that the difference between republicans and Republicans is vast. But in the end, republicans vote with Republicans...so the only time it really matters, there is really no difference between r's.

The issue is that they are doing NOTHING. Nothing at all to stand up to don. The guy just took an international incident and turned it into a public meeting- with public facebook posts, for God's sake.

let alone the contract for the DC post office, which pretty clearly states that it can not benefit a public official. Which it is.

Or all of the questionable properties that are overseas- one of which being mother (f'er) russia.

We can debate the moronic and fear mongering travel ban as just stupid policy- although, I'll bet the courts will end up standing up against him. But even there, don is mocking our judicial system. And we here mostly crickets from the house and senate not standing up for our Republic.
