Re: POTUS: 45.36: I Designed The Sears Tower, I Make 2 Grand An Hour

If the people aren’t vetted how do you know they’re even the kids parents? As I stated yesterday, I have never had a ton of interest in immigration and don’t understand the finer details of it like I do other issues. We definitely should have it as immigrants bring a lot to the country and I am ever so fortunate to be friends with a bunch, but we shouldn’t let an unlimited number of people in.

So it's better to assume that they are not the guardians than that they are? That's backwards of our laws- you have to prove that they are not the parent/guardian.

Your idea is to filter out the 1% by punishing 99%.

We are not talking about letting them into the country (a different question). We are talking about just keeping them together. Geez.

Re: POTUS: 45.36: I Designed The Sears Tower, I Make 2 Grand An Hour

Yeah and he publicly blamed Palin for losing the campaign and destroyed her. He was never one of the people who went Racist on Obama either.

You also understand that the McCain campaign /= Trump campaign even with Palin right?

Trump embodies everything that today's Republican party believes in. He just lacks the filter that the rest of them do. And yeah, once in a while, McCain steps up and does the right thing. But far too infrequently. For the vast majority, he's right there in lockstep with them.

Re: POTUS: 45.36: I Designed The Sears Tower, I Make 2 Grand An Hour

I hope the media doesn't back off this issue. The story isn't over until every last one of these kids is given back to their parents.

Yep. This "fix" may be even worse than current policy. trumpy will seek to have parents and children "detained" together, for an indefinite time period. What they are doing to the children currently does not qualify as "detention" under the law. Current law says children can only be "detained" for 20 days, which is the justification they have been using for separating families.

This has been ruled on by the courts, a decision called Flores, or something. The administration has long wanted to end the protections allowed under Flores, and so this is why they are doing this. It will lead to challenges in court, where they plan to fight the Flores decision. If they lose, thay just contend that the courts are forcing them to separate families.

The House "compromise" bill isn't much better Cruz wants to add more immigration lawyers, and force asylum cases to get decided in 14 days. Which may not be enough time for persons requesting asylum to put together a sufficient case to prove their need, so we'll just send them right back quickly.

Then our State Department needs to actually do something at their embassys to "fast pass" or at a minimum start the paperwork for people for the border crossing.

Yeah, like that's gonna happen with this administration.

LOL

We don't solve problems anymore. We let them fester so political parties can fund raise off them.

McCain used dog whistles rather than train whistles but the racism was definitely there.

Sure thing. You and Foxton 2.0 can believe that if you want to. McCain was an awful candidate and should have been in prison back during the S&L scandal (not to mention he was a full on sellout) but other than that he was no different than Mitt Romney. Feel free to source your claim though with specific ways John McCain did as such.

And remember this isnt about the Republican Party...no moving the goalposts. I want some real evidence that McCain went racist against Obama.

(Palin courted it hardcore...McCain notsomuch)

There is no doubt that the Republicans' latest strategy – if you can call it that – of repeatedly claiming that Obama "pals around with terrorists" and is unpatriotic was intended to appeal to the fear and prejudice that exists within some sections of the conservative base.

Took me about 2 seconds of googling. Also he picked Palin as his running mate... enough said.

Huh?

The article clearly states that it was his running mate and other aides, not him, who said those things. In fact, it goes on to say:
While McCain did the right thing on Friday when he stated – to boos and jeers from his supporters – that "… Senator Obama is a decent person and a person you don't have to be scared of as president of the United States",

Fine I'll rephrase, McCain might not have said anything explicitly racist but his campaign certainly was racist even if it wasn't as explicit as Trump's campaign. My goal here isn't to call him a racist per se, but his party definitely has been for the entirety of my life and he's complicit in pretty much all of it. So I'm not really sure what dsitinction you're trying to make as he supports a bunch of racist things and is all in on a party that does and says all sorts of racist things, even if he himself might not have said anything racist (in public).

An opinion piece in a left leaning publication is hardly evidence.

We don’t have to agree with all or any of his politics but it is inflammatory to call McCain a racist. The US would be in a much better place if there were more politicians in the mold of McCain on both sides of the aisle (not talking about political positions there)

I thought McCain knew he was an underdog by the time picking a VP came up and toyed with doing a "unity" ticket with Lieberman, but got talked out of it either because of fear of losing his right wing or that Joe might have said no. The actual choice of how to close the gap by adding a woman led to Palin, and the rest is (infamous) history.

The thing is, McCain was right there even with Obama until the bottom started dropping out of the markets, and he made his "we're all Georgians now" speech.

Holy ****

“An explosive new lawsuit claims migrant children at a Texas detention center run by a government contractor were forcibly injected with psychiatric medication after being told they would not be able to see their parents unless they took the drugs.”

You must do a lot of yoga.

Oh you and your facts and actual history ;) :D

Speaking of people who have a shaky grasp on reality...NBC News is reporting that Trumps EC could keep the now not separated families in detention indefinitely. Read More

The executive order President Donald Trump signed on Wednesday may put an end to separation of families, but it sets the stage for children whose parents are prosecuted to be held in indefinite detention with their parents while the family goes through immigration proceedings.

Among many other issues, that raises the question of where these families will be held as they await court hearings.

Family detention centers run by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement have a current capacity of 3,335 beds, according to the latest federal budget allocations. But on average, 420 parents and kids are crossing the U.S.-Mexico border in family groups each day, according to U.S. Customs and Border Protection data obtained by NBC News.

At that rate, the family detention centers will be full within eight days — and an unknown number of those beds are already occupied
