Re: POTUS: 45.36: I Designed The Sears Tower, I Make 2 Grand An Hour

I'm saying that. When you give all administrations the right to stop people at the border and incarcerate them if that administration thinks those people have entered "illegally", don't be shocked when an administration exercises that power in a way that offends you.

That said, I'm curious what you and others think should be done with these kids under the law as it currently exists.

1. Incarcerate them with their parents and a whole lot of additional unrelated adults until they can be returned home?
2. Left to roam the streets until their parents are processed and ready to be returned home?
3. Placed in thousands of yet to be identified foster homes?
4. Placed in one of tens of thousand of individual holding cells built just for families (that have yet to be constructed)?
5. Have someone just literally walk them back across the border?
6. Some other great idea that you have?

Well, I'd start with rolling back the zero-tolerance policy until the administration can effect that policy without abusing children. And, I'm not shocked...Trump is a horrible human being. This is the second time he has held children hostage to try to get his border wall funding.

Option 1 sounds an awful lot like a disaster shelter. What is so crazy about that? Almost anything is better than what is being done, unless your goal is to have hostages.

You are preaching to the choir. Who here on the Left didnt vote?

I have my suspicions frankly.

To answer Hovey's question, my understanding is that many of these people have families that they're trying to reach. Now that does not justify automatic admission. However I don't see why the children can't be kept with their parents while processed, and then have the parents fitted with an electronic bracelet or something up until their court hearing. I assume the US is screening for terrorists, criminals, and people who have been sent back multiple times. For people in those categories I image they'd be detained and then deported together.

Don't be That Guy. It doesn't help us. Every time you say "you gotta vote!" we will say "the candidate can't be dogsh-t!" And BOTH of us are right.

We all know how you feel. Repeating it for the 50 thousandth time is just you getting your ya yas out. Give it up for Secular Lent, please.

I'm thinking the same thing Rover is. Keep family units together. It's not that difficult of a concept.

Illegal border crossing is a misdemeanor. A jay-walking ticket, essentially. Those seeking asylum (or those falsely claiming asylum) are granted time to have their case inspected and overheard. This is where a function State Department could be utilized to coordinate with the home country to assist in pre-approving those seeking asylum.

Re: POTUS: 45.36: I Designed The Sears Tower, I Make 2 Grand An Hour

Guys, if you don't like it, vote. Simple as that. As I said before, the worst Dem is better than the best Republican. All 49 Dems in the Senate have signed onto a stand alone bill ending family separation including Manchin, Donnelly, Jones, Tester, Heitkamp, McCaskill, etc. No Republicans have, and that includes Collins, Flake, McCain, Murkowski and all of the other alleged moderates.

We did vote, and this is what we got. So why will things be better next time? I mean, Hillary had a lock on this, right?

Re: POTUS: 45.36: I Designed The Sears Tower, I Make 2 Grand An Hour

Don't feed him. On this he's a troll. We all know we all need to vote. Repeatedly infighting about how the establishment f-cked up and then not enough liberals held their nose is not going to get us anywhere. Both sides are right, but more importantly she's dead and gone. Move on.

At some point though they need to decide how many people get in, where they come from, etc and also what to do with the people who are here illegally.

No offense to anyone here but I think it’s insane to let anyone who wants to come here in. Where would they stay and how would we afford it? We’re a pretty poor country right now, even though we shouldn’t be. Perhaps it’s different in other parts of the country, but in the northeast there aren’t a lot of good places left to build housing.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but didn't the Obama administration put forth several plans that would do exactly this, and were stonewalled by Republicans every single time? You know, pathway to citizenship, that kind of ****?

But BSABSVR.

Always plenty of places to build a new office building or shopping mall though.

Re: POTUS: 45.36: I Designed The Sears Tower, I Make 2 Grand An Hour

The trump admin is quietly trying to degrade hsalhvcare while the world watches them rip kids from their parents.

From WaPo:

“The new rules allow plans to exclude coverage for maternity care, prescription drugs, mental health services and other “essential health benefits” that the ACA requires.”

Another who suggests that at least 1 is exactly what we do for disaster relief, and it works well enough.

IMHO, 2, 3, 4, 5 are pretty much just as bad as separation. How you treat them after being taken from the parents is irrelevant. That first step should have never happened.

Since most illegal crossers are just sent back, pretty quickly, why is it so bad that the kids stay with the parents? Based on what the administration is saying, the separation is INTENTIONAL to make people think twice about coming, and that's not acceptable. You should not do an immoral thing as a way to prevent people from doing something. Noting that illegal crossing is roughly the same as a speeding ticket, they should not be going to jail for any short time.

For the asylum seekers, they should be treated far more humanely, since they are not breaking any laws. Granted, not all of them will be allowed, but it's really horrible for this administration to treat them like criminals, too.

It would be interesting to see some actual statistics of people going back to court when caught at the border with their family.

Taking kids from families as a way to prevent further immigration (legal or not), and then blaming everyone else for their actions, at the same time, black mailing congress... these clowns running the show are just terrible people.

So, the Obama policy?

The Republicans need this to be in turmoil because it makes their base afraid. It will never be resolved while the GOP is still in any position to block progress. The 1% uses them to rule through fear. So: more war, more guns, more tension, keep the criminal drug trade alive, keep pushing white supremacist rhetoric, and take every single emotional issue and push it to an 11.

Governance as prison riot.

The 1% uses them to rule through fear. They can't do anything to lower fear. So: more war, more guns, more tension, keep the criminal drug trade alive, keep pushing white supremacist rhetoric, and take every single emotional issue and push it to an 11.

I understand this. Drew seems to have some difficulty wrapping his head around it. Understanding just what a sick and depraved trainwreck his party and its policies have become.

Explain in tiny words that even you can understand how that justifies taking kids from families. Which is a new policy starting in May.

We've decided that in the past, but dumpy and his morons think even that is too much, to the point that harming the economy is just fine for the voters. We are NOT a poor country, especially relative to all of our neighbors to the south- so that's a BS claim.

Yeah, but Drew likes letting millionaires have all our tax money, so until he figures how badly he's been conned, he's gonna go on thinking how we have no money to do anything in this country.

Should they build a four seasons for them? What were the facilities like when Bush, Obama, etc were president? How long are the kids staying there? Is it a good policy or not? There are tons of other questions which need to be answered for me to have an opinion.

You need tons of questions to be answered to determine if removing kids from their parents is the wrong thing to do?

That says all I need to know about your moral compass.
