Basically.

But even now we could balance the budget going forward by simply restoring the tax rates pre-Reagan, or perhaps pre-JFK. Main Street booms when we have high taxes and spend on the middle class and the poor. Wall Street booms (and then busts) when we have low taxes and borrow to enrich the 1%. That is the final takeaway from the GOP's 30+ year experiment in voodoo economics.

If you want a healthy country, vote D. If you want the 1% richest families in America to have complete freedom, vote R.

Want to balance the budget? Not as hard as it looks:

1) Reverse stupid GOP tax giveaway from earlier this year - 150Bn per year
2) High velocity trading transaction tax of .5% = 200Bn per year
3) Increase federal gas tax from 18c to 40c - 50Bn per year
4) Cut defense spending - 100Bn per year
5) Medicare bargain for prescription drugs - 50Bn per year
6) Increase top tier tax rate to 45%, Higher Medicaid surcharge on 250K and higher earners, get rid of carried interest deductions - 100Bn
7) Elimination of special interest tax breaks (oil industry to drill for oil, for example) - 50Bn.

That's around 700Bn right there, and it sticks it to all the right people! ;)

No. Defeatism just shifts your work to somebody else. It wasn't over when the Germans bombed Pearl Harbor and it's not over now.
