The hatred of something is not a basis for unification. Assuming your 2/3 citation is relative to the inverted approval rating of the President. A belief system through disjunctive inference does not actually create anything, especially when the possibilities available to us are endless.

There are times when I hear a good idea here, and think that maybe we're actually going to make some progress towards a life where all of us can be satisfied. Then I read vindictive tripe and find the same divisions that occurred before coming to the table.

What should be alarming to some is that the viewership was:
42% R
33% I
25% D

and the approval was:
75% approve
25% disapprove

I see an interesting alignment in number of Ds and the disapproval numbers.

Well, if those numbers are accurate based on that speech than the middle is lost forever to the Democrats. Forever.

Read 538's analysis of SOTU prior to Dump's speech. That's exactly how they go: the president's fans watch the speech, nobody else does. And the president's fans love the speech because duh.

I’m surprised no one has mentioned Trump wants to do away with civil service protections for federal workers. That would be a truly scary thing to have happen.

That was one of the things I took away from the speech. The other was coal. And the third was the tearing down of the Statue of Liberty. Yet, somehow, this is considered a "moderate" speech by today's standards. Centrist if you will. And, it's going to pass as that and I am going to wonder why.

Didn't see the SOTU or the JKIII rebuttal, but if the biggest critique of him is "the corners of his mouth were moist" I'd say he must have avoided the Rubio-Jindal curse! That's as absurd as all the right wing pundidiots crying that Uncle Joe Biden was "too hard" on Weasel Paul Ryan after he slaughtered the little jerk in their VP debate in 2012. :D

These aren't the centrist independents you'd like to think they are, these are far right "independents" who think the GOP are a bunch of flaming libs.

These are just like post debate polls--they are mostly about expectations. For Trump, these results are the same as for the question "Do you think most of the words he used were real English words?"

Apparently Democrats like Axelrod and Van Jones were moved by this speech. What the **** were they watching? Seriously. The speech was the equivalent of a teenager throwing flaming **** at your door on Halloween.

No it wasn't. 538 literally calls any pundit who says this was a pivot to the middle an idiot. It was a doubling down, which is why his base loves it.

Well, explain Axelrod and Van Jones then. Chris Matthews on MSNBC gushed. Are we just so desperate to find something good in our President? Maybe that's what's going on.
