POTUS 45:26 - One million tweets DC!

Re: POTUS 45:26 - One million tweets DC!

All that said, I saw the Rs push (ram-rod?) a tax plan through before Christmas. I'm paying off an October bet that that wouldn't happen (good Scotch, gone) because at that time the Rs wanted nothing to do with Trump. But something changed in the interim, and the Rs came around to support it and, by default, Trump. As some here are rightly saying, we don't know what Mueller knows; but, we also don't know what changed that made Congressional Rs suddenly not afraid of getting on board Trump's tax overhaul bill.

that should be pretty obvious. They fear losing their house and/or senate majority. They had to complete the heist when they had the opportunity.

Every Republican always wanted The Heist. They had one job: to pay back their donors' bribes. They would have done it with literally any Republican president.

The Rs got on board with Dump firstly so he wouldn't flake on them on The Heist and secondly because they are amoral cowards without principles and terrified of the Deplorables, who Dump has now locked up as his private ape army. No R can afford to alienate the orcs because they are primary death and Bannon and Breitbart are taking names.

The Rs' best bet is the Ds take both chambers and waste their energy on impeachment, thus turning 2020 into another white trash tire fire like 2016. Also, when The Crash comes, they can blame it on the Dem Congress.

And notice how they did the heist. They formed all these rules that allowed a simple majority for certain things as long as it only did this much deficit, etc, etc, etc. And then they managed to get everything they needed. The Senate. The House. The President. And bang, 1.5 Trillion dollar payoff. With just a little pittance for John Q Taxpayer so it looks "Republican" enough.

It's the most egregious form or thievery ever committed by our Government.

Well... the Blacks and the Injuns may have a quibble. But it's in the top four along with slavery, The Genocide, and Reagan's Theft.

Re: POTUS 45:26 - One million tweets DC!

speaking of the heist, I wrote maybe a dozen letters to Susan Collins about it. The only one to get a real response was the one I wrote asking her to vote against it, even if she did think the tax cut was a good idea, because of the unnecessary inclusion of a provision to open the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge to drilling. She replied that she has voted to protect ANWR from drilling many times and that during consideration of the budget she was the only Republican to vote for an amendment to stop drilling from being part of the tax reform bill and that later during floor consideration of the tax bill she was the only republican to vote to strip the ANWR drilling provision from it but that unfortunately these attempts did not garner enough support so the provision remained in the final bill.

She basically admitted to me that tax cuts for the rich were important enough for her to turn her back on her principles.

Re: POTUS 45:26 - One million tweets DC!

The R's were never against getting in bed with Trump to enrich themselves and their donors. Nothing changed, that's pure nonsense.

The votes were not there. Between the "never Trump" undercurrent of some and the "special concerns*" of others, they just were not.

But then, somehow, between October and Christmas they arrived. Sure, some got their "special concern" addressed, and that's that.

Something else changed. In October no Senator (D or R) wanted to be seen aligning with Trump. Suddenly, even with the risk of being tied to Trump, come what may, at re-election time, the votes were there. Why did they suddenly become comfortable aligning with Trump?

Sure, the elected had to make good on their promises, but even their donors would understand "timing". Those donors wouldn't want to lose their paid for seat. Donors would wait it out if the alternative was losing their investment completely if it was tied to Trump. But, the Senators aligned with Trump anyway and the donors didn't balk.

Either they believe they have enough now (this tax law) to survive Mueller finding something on Trump, or they know something, like Mueller won't find anything.

*Also spelled "pork payoff".

So your premise is that previously the votes weren't there because there we too many who wouldn't be comfortable aligning with Trump, even to pass tax reform. Can you support this with anything more than your own assertions?

Re: POTUS 45:26 - One million tweets DC!

Obama curbed Flynn and he should have.

Trump was stupid for ever picking Flynn back up. The only reason he did is that Flynn publicly disagreed with Obama and that made Trump smirk. Trump never looked beyond that fact (the public disagreement) to the reality that Flynn's been a loose cannon for quite a while.

Mueller needs to play out the string on this investigation. He needs to follow the money. If there's proof, it won't be statements by people, it'll be money trails. If there is one Mueller's forensics people will find it.

But here's the deal: Say Mueller finds nothing (or even just nothing "criminal") and finishes with Flynn lying and Manafort the tax fraud. "The dossier!!!!" will become "Emailz!!!!" Are you folks ready for that real possibility? Or will Manafort become Benghazi.

Just the same, I'm ready for the day that Pence takes the oath and the Office. (I'm cringing, but I'm ready.)

Is anyone really paying attention to the 'dossier'? I think most of the people I know are way more worried about all the other Russian interference stuff. Who needs the 'dossier' when there is so much other material

Even WaPo over the weekend ran a story where 80+% of taxpayers will pay less. Less is less. The new tax law, to the average voter looks like, well, Randy will explain.
Until the less means less of a social net, less health care, more cost for things and the inevitable crash that comes everytime this strategy is tried. Then poof. Randy will explain that too, right?

Dare I say "John McCain". "Rubio". "Collins". "Mike Lee".

That said, can you prove otherwise?

this was their one chance before an unpopular president costs them their majority. If you won't **** over the little guy to give a hand out to the wealthy, then what is the point of being a Republican?

Does the average American see a difference?

Until the less means less of a social net, less health care, more cost for things and the inevitable crash that comes everytime this strategy is tried. Then poof. Randy will explain that too, right?

I'm not making value judgements; but, it's reality. Gimme something now is the American way (see also: $21 trillion debt).

Re: POTUS 45:26 - One million tweets DC!

Sorry, a list of names doesn't cut it. GTFO, the burden of proof is not on me to refute your unsupported assertions.

In November, WaPo was saying the Rs wouldn't, couldn't, pass tax reform. What changed?

Are you saying "the heist" and paying off donors was more important than the risk of being seen affiliated with Trump?

Re: POTUS 45:26 - One million tweets DC!

They were all there for the heist. They won't be there for anything else.

If Trump goes down they'll be tied to him in every opponent's campaign ads. Heck of a risk.

"Senator Rumplebutt voted with impeached Donald Trump and his reckless tax plan that pushed gramma off the cliff and exploded the debt!"

Pretty sure after reading that part in italics Scoob had to excuse himself. ;)
