POTUS 45.21 STAND for our great National Anthem

Re: POTUS 45.21 STAND for our great National Anthem

You're exactly right, and Melania has as much right to "worry about them" as anyone, if not more. Would you bar alcoholics from speaking up at AA meetings because they're "part of the problem"? Good for her.
Don't kid yourself about Bill changing his ways either - if he's not philandering anymore it's only because the pills will no longer do the job. Having faults doesn't diminish his worth or wisdom.
edit: I guess my main concern here is that I disapprove of attacking family members. It seems pretty harmless to me if Melania wants to campaign against bullying or Michelle wants to grow some veggies - why politicize it? In fact, why can't everyone support it? There's no real reason for a divide on this stuff other than family name.

That's fine.

I have nothing against our Mail Order First Lady. She cut a deal and when you think about what she had to endure as her part of the bargain she deserves all our sympathy.

She appears to be an utterly benign example of the genus Kept Ditz. She seems to be rock stupid but now you mention it I don't express myself very well in Slovene. She is, not to put too fine a point on it, an extremely successful prostitute, but so have been 95% of the wives of rich men since time began.

I don't take anything she has to say about anything seriously, but I don't think she deserves snark, either. She is what she is. She has to face the horror of her fat, ugly, disgusting, disloyal, insipid, pathetic husband every day -- we don't need to add a single pebble to the load she carries.

Wait, Morning Joe is liberal?

Everyone who's ever said anything negative about Trump is a raging lib to the Trumposphere.

Was watching the NatGeo dramatization of Einstein's life on the plane yesterday. Very timely.

It is to our culture which has shifted so far right no one knows where the middle is anymore.

Our actual culture hasn't "shifted" anywhere.

The reflection of our culture in the media is dominated by corporations selling to the donor class, so the entire public face of America has bifurcated into either the rich selling each other cars during golf games or Deplorables performing and watching "Ow, My Balls!"

Have you seen Fox News and Rush's numbers?

Our culture in the News used to be Walter Cronkite. Don't tell me things haven't changed. The truth used to mean something. We equate MSNBC with FOX somehow around here as being both sides. But, it's not both sides. Nothing is both sides if one side fabricates the entire narrative. Every single day.

Gotta agree with this. I'd also add that a lot of the media is run or populated by old white guys who long for a mythical pristine time like they imagine the 1950's were like and this gets reflected in their coverage.

The only thing that's changed is the herpa-derps get on TV now.

They were always there, but nobody thought to stick a mic in front of their fat, dumb faces because why would you?

I was told the other day on here words matter.

The new narrative is that Trump is hyperbolic and not a liar.

lie : 1. A false statement deliberately presented as being true; a falsehood.
2. Something meant to deceive or mistakenly accepted as true:

hyperbole: 1. obvious and intentional exaggeration.
2. an extravagant statement or figure of speech not intended to be taken literally, as “to wait an eternity.” Compare

I call bull****. The man's a liar through and through. This is a right wing narrative by the way. Joe Scarborough has rightly called him a liar.

This was the Trumpies' defense of him early in the primary and it always drove me nuts. He's clearly a liar, period. Trouble is, once previously reasonable people bought into the idea that "hyperbole is just his style" enough to swallow their well-founded doubts and actually vote for him, confirmation bias kicked in so hard that they'll never see the light of day on Trump. Sad.

I've been busy the last few weeks and haven't had a chance to post on here, but wanted to say the tax cut stuff completely baffles me. I was at a bank event today and they had an economist speak, he showed that the bank projects our annual deficit will go back up to around a trillion dollars and deficits will continue as far as the eye can see. I can't believe that this doesn't really seem to concern many people. At some point we are going to have massive, massive problems.

Its un-American to stand in the way of tax cuts for the rich.

“When a working stiff demands a pay raise, it causes inflation and threatens the nation’s prosperity; when a C.E.O. gets a raise ten thousand times as large, it rewards enterprise and assures all our futures. The two phenomena, obviously, are totally separate. Only a fool or a journalist could confuse them.”
