POTUS 45.20 - Doddering Dotards Dodging Detente

Re: POTUS 45.20 - Doddering Dotards Dodging Detente

I just want all the teams to start each April at 0-0.

But Kep, they don't. They do on paper, but reality and karma says otherwise.

The World Series champ has the money from winning as do the other successful teams from the year before.
The large markets start with a large fiscal base to draw from.
Those groups can buy the better line-ups to keep improving.

He knows all the good words.

When asked about criticism from a mayor in Florida who said their problems with distributing aid to the island were purely a result of their lack of foresight, (DHS Adviser) Bossert delivered this doozy:

I would challenge him to go down and get a better understanding first before rendering that verdict on what we've done, what we have been doing and how blown away you’re going to be when you see the full totality of the picture.

Re: POTUS 45.20 - Doddering Dotards Dodging Detente

How 'bout we quit taxing money earned from investments differently than we do money earned from labor? Why should someone with gobs of money get to keep more of it simply because he parked it in the stock market instead of the guy who's breaking his body every day in the workplace?

In fact, how 'bout we reverse that. Tax income earned from labor at a lower rate than that earned from investments? Oh how the plutes would cry about how 'unfair' it is.

And the analogy is the education rich kids have, and the stability of their home environment. That's the roster staying the same from one year to the next and the payroll being used to buy good players.

But we don't start the division winners 20 games ahead on April 1. Whereas with poverty and wealth in America we start 4 teams at 81-0, 12 teams at 30-51, and the rest around .500.

But I've often thought we could eliminate poverty overnight with just one move. And everybody gets to keep all their money.

Just swap all the babies at birth. My baby might wind up in a poor household, better give them good food and a good education, make sure those parents have good jobs and high self-esteem and good health. My baby might be in an inner city, better make sure the school is well-funded and the cops are honest. My baby might be in Flint, clean up the water. My baby might be in Puerto Rico, get supplies there NOW!

And my god, talk about the ideal Christian solution. Love one another, indeed.

Once you have money it's easier to make more money. In your world the top 0.1% will accumulate more and more wealth (even worse than now). Welcome to the oligarchy.
That and his post doesn't address things like the various systemically racist which caused poverty in minority communities and basically created more wealth for whites at their behest (which they earned because of the skin pigmentation they were born with).

Oh, but they sure do.

http://talkingpointsmemo.com/livewire/white-house-sanders-april-ryan-nfl-protest-black-and-white

White House press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders on Thursday said there’s not much to clarify about the administration’s position on some NFL players and coaches who drop to one knee to protest during the national anthem because the issue is “pretty black and white.”

On their incompetence, I see and raise.

A congressional request for information on White House adviser Jared Kushner’s private email use ended up in CNN’s hands on Thursday after his high-powered D.C. attorney accidentally forwarded it to an Internet prankster.

As CNN reported, Kushner had apparently never disclosed his personal email account to the Senate Intelligence Committee investigating Russia’s interference in the 2016 election, irritating lawmakers who only learned of its existence from press reports. His attorney, Abbe Lowell, received an indignant email from the committee asking Kushner to turn over all relevant documents from his “personal e-mail account described in the news media as well as all over accounts, messaging apps, or similar communications channels you may have used or that may contain information relevant to our inquiry,” according to CNN.

That’s where things took a wrong turn. Instead of forwarding the letter to his real client, Lowell accidentally sent it to a British prankster who had punked Lowell a few days ago, who in turn passed it along to CNN.

This is the second time this week that Lowell has been caught up in a private email-related snafu with this prankster, who goes by the handle @SINON_REBORN on Twitter.

This is why we need a new political party. The vast majority of people could get behind it, but there is no chance of it happening given the current setup.

Re: POTUS 45.20 - Doddering Dotards Dodging Detente

You don't need a new political party. You need to get big money out of the ones we currently have.

Any new party that even begins earning seats in government, and they'll get bought out just like the ones we already have.

This. The problem with the parties isn't that they're not representing their constituents. It's that they are. Their constituents are the rich and the powerful interests who bribe them. It's as if before trying a case both the plaintiff and defendant were permitted to approach the bench and give the judge money.

You know, for "access."

Stop the bribery or nothing else matters. Our government is not dysfunctional. It is functioning perfectly for the people who bought it.

Not sure if this would work any more, given that poor immigrants are the only Americans still having kids. Once we build the wall the US will actually be shrinking.

Businesses that employ people for minimum wage also tend to have them for customers (Restaurants, Retail, Service, etc). The increase in purchasing power for their customers would more than offset the wages increase. Henry Ford knew he had to pay his workers enough for them to buy his cars.

Another huge improvement would be the unionization of service labor. If the entire McDonald's workforce belong to a union, they have power when they negotiate for wages and benefits. As it stands employers play workers off against each other and it's a race to the bottom.

Franchisees all handle their own hiring and firing, so you're not likely to ever see a company like McD's widely unionized. It may happen in a region-by-region basis, but not likely across the country. Perhaps it could happen in Europe.

In Europe they'd just make it illegal to work as non-union. :)

I could go for shrinking. National Parks are getting too **** crowded. Lotteries for wilderness permits sucks.

It would be nice if our economy didn't depend on unsustainable growth (once robots take all our jobs and we have universal basic income we should have a one child policy and bring the us population way down and return as much to wilderness as possible). Every nice small western mountain town is getting ruined by rich ****s.

The ones you'll get the most butthurt from are actually the retirees who have to live off investment income; heck, even the ponzi scheme of social security is taxable. Also, the investment differences are only available for long-term and qualified investments. The day trader is still paying top dollar in taxes.

Re: POTUS 45.20 - Doddering Dotards Dodging Detente

Sorry folks.

What investment income? Most retirees are living off Social security, and not much else. And you're just fine with cutting that.

the richest 20% of Americans owned 92% of all stocks in 2013, according to research by NYU economist Edward Wolff.

So the bottom 80% hold a grand total of 8% of the stock market. Gonna need that for their retirement.
