I'm interested in Calexit because it will explore strategies for the Slave States to adopt.

Let's say the original confederate states asked the federal government politely to secede and swore they would patiently follow all the correct steps, they just needed them defined. Would anybody fight it? I'd have to move (and quickly before the southern housing market collapsed) and I certainly wouldn't fight it.

It's a bad idea whose time has come.

The press and D's easily use paper, but R's seem to not understand that you can predict the same movement over and over. So they play all 3. Mostly scissors.

Kind of hard to move things along quickly when the leader of the Gubmint is doing everything to obstruct. It would be nice if the GOP would actually behave responsibly and actually condemn the lying, omissions that come out seemingly on a daily basis.

What would happen if we removed Trump and had Pence? Read a book when I was little called Heartsease by Peter Dickinson. As I watch all the insanity it keeps coming to mind. It is a kids' book, set in England, that has reverted into a pre-Industrial era (seems like this is the goal- socially if not otherwise). People don't tolerate anyone who is different or do not comply with a ban on technology/anything modern. Strangers are stoned to death without question; everyone including kids lives in fear, with justification, that their own families will kill them if they are caught breaking the rules. People truly believe they're doing the right thing. They keep a disabled person a shed like an animal, shun modern medicine to help those who are ill, etc. The power-hungry leader of the village whips them into a froth about any mis-step and inspects people's homes to make sure they are following the rules. In the end he is killed and suddenly all the xenophobic villagers find themselves more willing to accept their neighbors. The world we live in seems to be heading metaphorically in this direction. The difference- we have a sociopath who has the developmental level of a young child. if we get rid of him, instead of reverting to normalcy, we get Pence. He is just as warped, claims to have moral compass but is willing to lie and support someone who has none, and is light years more clever.

The Pentagon has come out and told everyone they were going to carry on as usual until the White House issued real orders (paraphrased) and discussed what they were supposed to be doing.

Steven Berry wrote a book on this Premise- it was very good and reading it at this time made it more real.

Supposedly the scouts lean right because of TEH GUNZ. I had no idea -- I don't even think there was a scouts organization in my town growing up; I was under the impression they had died out in the '50s like DeMolay or the Junior League until I met some scouts in college.

SSS, but two of the three Eagle Scouts I've met are gay. Bet they're good at ropecraft, though.

Not that there's anything wrong with that. I'm sure Lindsey appreciates a good strong log cabin, nestled at the lakeshore, where he can get away from it all and unwind.

Yeah, don't worry about it. I mean, you've still got your beach house, you've got your condo in Aspen, the apartment in SoHo, you'll be fine. I'm just glad we didn't elect someone like Hillary who's so out of touch with people.

I saw that. It's like you can't make this crap up. It's like they're playing a game to see how far they can go without the derps raising even a hint of protest. Scaramanga had "use Joe Paterno as a beacon of integrity". I can them all sitting in the Oval Office laughing, "nope!, didn't get it!"

I'm convinced the only reason tRump hasn't replaced Ben on the $100 bill with an engraving of himself is because he hasn't thought of it. And I mean that sincerely and literally.
