POTUS 45.12: Dan, does it take courage when encountering the covfefe?

Re: POTUS 45.12: Dan, does it take courage when encountering the covfefe?

As much as I dislike Itch McConnell he knows how to do his job. He needs 50 votes and he has 52 Senators. That means he can afford to let the guy in the most difficult re-election race in his caucus wander off the reservation and it doesn't change the political calculus. He can also give Collins a pass as well.

But. That's it. And it sets up a situation where the hardcore knucks know they can twist Mitch's nuts in a vice because if even one of them thinks the bill isn't Draconian enough then it's "See Yah!" Worst of all, the most disgusting knucks are in the safest seats because of gerrymandering, so they can afford to hold their breath til all Republicans turn blue.

It will come as a surprise to absolutely nobody that Trump screwed the pooch on the Senate DeathCare bill.

And that's how you play "alienate your allies."

To paraphrase Liz Taylor paraphrasing Bette Davis, "What. A. Dope."

Wait, I thought SuperPACs weren't supposed to have contact with politicians? I must be misunderstanding how they work.

Now that McConnell has stepped back, does "Dealmaker" Don step in and come up with a compromise that's "better" and that gets say < random number generators running > 28 Rs and 23 Ds? He'd play that as such a coup by him that Twitter would melt.

The Republicans would love to deport anyone with an IQ over 80. Nobody's going to stop us walking out that door, we'd just have problems getting back in.
He keeps offending people and we might not get to go in somewhere else unless we are visiting.

No, you are assuming the law is still the law. As we have multiple examples of how the law is no longer the law for the Prez ...

Re: POTUS 45.12: Dan, does it take courage when encountering the covfefe?

Did it also mischaracterize this part of the article I posted?

Seems the 2011 rule was well vetted. While the change is just straight crony capitalism.

I can't say. That is lifted straight from the Obama Administration press release about the rule. If you take from it that people at these 400 meetings and million comments all supported the rule, then yes, I'd say that's a mischaracterization. I've been to Army Corp public meetings on water in Florida and DNR public meetings in WI. Believe me, there's little consensus coming from the many I've attended. And if there was such consensus and support, why couldn't D's pass the law to save 117 million Americans? I believe Russ Feingold sponsored the last iteration.

I'd guess it might be that a majority in congress didn't agree it was the right way to go about it. President Obama thought it was though. So naturally, that settles the question for all time.

To get Ds it would have to be improvements to the ACA, and do you really see him changing his tune on the failing death spiraling loser terrible deal for the American people sad ACA? Yeah I didn't think so, so no, "Dealmaker" dong won't be stepping in.

All he has to do is put together something that'll get the votes and claim it's ... great, really, really, great; it's a great bill, so much better than that ObamaCare disaster. <-- I think I just channeled his Tweet. ;)

What'll it take to get those votes? That's a whole other matter.

Because the Republicans don't give two ****s about the American people. They are corporate shills.

Finally, Trump is going after Amazon for not paying internet taxes. They're also not paying unicorn taxes and leprechaun taxes either!

The problem is they have to do the bill under reconciliation or they need 60 votes. So, they'll never pass it.

Re: POTUS 45.12: Dan, does it take courage when encountering the covfefe?

Glenn Greenwald sure seems to have his knickers in a twist today.
https://theintercept.com/2017/06/27...e-of-media-recklessness-on-the-russia-threat/

He calls out CNN, MSNBC, and C-SPAN about their Russia coverage.

Greenwald is an interesting beast. I really try to view his writing with sympathy, because (1) he does try to get his investigative sources right and he seems to try to be careful with the facts, and (2) his big enemy is my big enemy: a heedless rush to war along with the even more heedless rush to the informational incarceration of every American citizen in a totalitarian surveillance state that has been going on for the last 16 years.

I have problems with this piece, though. I don't understand how anybody on the face of the Earth could un-ironically cite Sputnik and RT (i.e., Putin's state twitter feed) as supposed truth speakers in a story about media fabrication and bias. And I don't understand how he has been sucked into the Big Russia Lie, albeit under the laudable circumstance of trying to make sure Snowden wasn't railroaded by our freshly-minted Star Chamber system of national security justice.

Critiquing CNN for media inconsistency and a hidden agenda while citing Trump and Putin is like Kellyanne Conway giving beauty tips to Kate Upton.

My guess would be the same reason we can't get the rich to pay their share of taxes. Bribery.

I honestly thought Rice was intelligent enough to know the difference between a President of the United States and a five-year-old autocratic horse's a55.

To be fair, she liked Dubya too.

That's irrelevant as the last time legislation was introduced in a majority D senate on this issue, D's also had 60% of the House. And as far as I know a companion bill to Feingold's was never even brought up in the House. (to save people from dying in the streets.)
