Prior to becoming a 4 year school they were the Northstars. Not sure what year they changed to Kangaroos.
The pre-season poll is up on another site and the Bears are picked 5th. That seems appropriate however I think the Bears may finish a little higher.
I'm picking them lower...
Well the Bears won tonight 4-1 over SUNY Canton. The Bears outshot the Kangaroos 47-26. I liked what I saw at times from the Bears, as they carried most of the play for the game. I will definitely admit the goalie for the Kangaroos, Jimmy Merrow could play just about anywhere in D III. He committed robbery again at Maxcy Hall this year. Overall I will give the Bears a B- on this outing. Next weekend its off to Brockport and Geneseo.
From what I can tell Canton/Potsdam is one of the best draws for Potsdam all season. They shoud try and pick up Canton twice per season. Had to be at least 2,000 plus at the game and for the record I believe the quick fact is that Kangaroos can only move forward. Also if anyone on Canton could play D3 they wouldn't be at Canton!
Nice way to begin the season, a 5-2 win over Brockport. I was able to watch the game on fasthockey and thought for the most part Potsdam played very well. The defense for Potsdam looks good. Geneseo is up next.
From their first power play onwards, Potsdam played very strong.
Will be interesting to see how Geneseo comes out tomorrow after a huge win over Plattsburgh.
As a counterpoint, the games against D-II teams are defacto exhibition games that DO count on your 25 game limit. The ECAC-E will have 4 of them next year. It's an EXHIBITION game. You can only have one of those a year before it starts counting against your 25-game limit. No way Potsdam is going to give up an NCAA game to play another exhibition game.
