The Syracuse Crunch and Binghamton Senators are playing an outdoor game at the NY State Fairgrounds on January 30th.
That's the Plattsburgh/Potsdam home weekend for the Lakers.
For the NHL winter classic games they usually like getting "filler" games so the outdoor rink gets a little bit more use than just the one NHL game on it.
Why not have the Oswego/Potsdam game down there on Friday night?
It'd be great exposure for Oswego and the college game and I'm sure that the event organizers would love to add more games to schedule to try and get some more money out of the event.
Thoughts? Would this even be possible or is there a SUNYAC rule stating the game MUST be at Oswego's home rink or something like that?
Secondly, would people actually attend? Oswego gets 1000 students to their home games night in and night out. However, most of them are there to be seen rather than watch the game. Would they make the 40 minute trip down 481 to the game?
I'm thinking Oswego would need to organize some sort of mass transportation for the students if they indeed did end up doing this and wanted a strong student attendance there.
EDIT: The game is actually February 20th. Cancel that. Oswego is at Geneseo that day...
Major suckage. I was really getting excited about the prospects of this.
