Good morning Lodge peeps. So, today I potentially have two home improvement type of visits but have no idea if either will happen. Last week when I was having an issue with my new washing machine, the appliance store made an appoint with GE Service. The appointment time block? 8:0am - 5:00pm. Way to narrow it down. No confirmation of the visit, etc. Who knows when or if they will show up.

The second one is the handyman guy who was helping to fix my wall that plumber dude damaged with a buzz saw. I emailed the condo management company this morning to confirm that I am not paying for this to be fixed. Hoping that happens. This guy was really good and I believe him when he says he will come today, but I thought maybe he would have called yesterday to say I plan to be there around such and such time. I have meetings at 10:00am, 11:00am, 11:30am, 2:00pm and 4:30pm (which is a retirement party Zoom call). I really hope these guys come when I'm not on a call with my manager (11:30-12 noon) but you know one of them will. Or even better, both will show up at the same time.
 
Afternoon, Lodge. Closing on a new house. By 3pm tomorrow I'll be able to add a mortgage and home maintenance/improvements to the list of things that will keep me up at night for the next 30 years. ;-)

Congrats!! Welcome to the world of home ownership.

Both my home improvement visits happened. The handyman guy arrived nice and early, painted the whole wall. Moved my china closet back into place. He was on time and very efficient with his work. GE service dude showed up at 2:00pm. The issue with my washing machine is it literally stopped working and lost power a couple of times. Last week when it happened, it was when I was running my dryer. GE service dude said there's a cord that runs from my washer and plugs into the dryer and then the dryer plugs into the wall. Since the dryer never lost power, he said I wouldn't need an electrician. He said the cord from the washer to the dryer had popped out a bit. I said "So when this happens next week, because it will, what do I do?" He thinks that the socket on the dryer may be the issue if the cord continues to pop out and he said I should ask the appliance store to replace it. And if that happens, it's going to be for free or I will cause a major scene.

Found out today that the "Ice Out" Members Only Party at one of the local breweries I'm a member of...is June 13. The same day my beer geek friends and I are coming back from Houghton (well, technically Eagle River). We'll make it, since the hours are from 5-9pm, but oof, that will be one hell of a finish to the vacation.

Done with Clinical days, everything is corrected, the end of yr stuff is done.... except 2 students haven't submitted the face sheet tot he assignment so I can't give them a grade. I emailed days ago to ask what I should do. No answer. SO I might just leave it unresolved. I am sick of identifying problems and then getting the ostrich treatment.
Going to go see my friend on St Croix. I have an early AM (as in before sunrise) flight when I go. Everyone is vaccinated. I have to figure out how to live in a mask for about 14 hours without breaking the seal. It should be interesting. Hopefully this time it works. Last time I was within 48 h of travel when the world crashed.

When bike riding this morning, I looked in the Washington Channel and saw the mini cruise ship American Constitution. https://www.americancruiselines.com/...n-constitution No one got off, so I assumed it was testing things. Looking at the schedule, they are starting their first cruise on 4/17. : eek :

Cold, wind, and the American Constitution have returned to 202-land. Only one more trip of the latter before it spreads good cheer and possible disease up north. It then won't be back until October. Hopefully the cold won't be back until then either. :-D
 
Random laundry question. Last night I dropped/spilled a little of my meal on the shirt I was wearing. It was baked fish in tomato sauce that included some olive oil. I grabbed a dish towel to wipe off the shirt. I rinsed the towel. I was wearing a long sleeve shirt with dark colored stripes and a white t-shirt underneath. The tomato sauce seeped thru the top layer onto the white t-shirt. I changed, then used a Shout wipe on both shirts. I washed them both with the dish towel this morning. No more stain on the dish cloth or the striped shirt but the tomato sauce stain remains on the white shirt. Drives me nuts. Why didn't the stain cme out of the shirt that wasn't even the initial target? Not that I'm expecting an actual answer. Just thought I'd share with you all.
 
This may be a dumb question, but has the poll on this thread disappeared? With the old board it was always visible, but now one has to go to the first page. If I go there, all I see is the question and how many voted. Do others see the poll?
 
My boss lady likes me.

These are some of the messages she sent this morning:
"Did you have a talk with [plant manager] yesterday? he hit me up with some things he wanted to talk to you about and I blasted him back"
"I just got really mama defensive on him so it sounds like his conversation with you was ok? maybe his email tone just came through bad to me"
 
Woke up this morning to see a text message at 1:03am from a realtor saying he saw my place was off the market but am I still interested in selling. I’ve been getting calls, emails and texts since February but this one? No introduction with a name, just asking me if I was still interested in selling. I haven’t answered any of the messages I’ve received these past few months but was thinking of replying to this person saying I would never work with someone who would cold text someone at 1:00am.

Took a personal day today. It’s my dad’s birthday today and I took my mom to the cemetery to visit. Brought some flowers and a little birthday balloon.

I don't recall if I did that when I created the poll. Even so, it would still be interesting to see. I am pretty sure that it did not disappear immediately after the change.
 
Evening Lodge. Shipped out 2 full pallets of ice melt in the past week. Um, huh?
One went to the Air Force in CO Springs. Ok, I get that.
The other, shipped today, went to Sacramento CA. WTeff?
