So, first day back to work after vacation. I'm slogging through the hundreds of emails, and my boss asks if we could briefly meet right away. In said meeting she catches me up on the management-level stuff that happened and told me that my company is concerned by the number of senior analysts and supervisors/manager leaving lately so they did some market research are are adjusting wages accordingly.

So, yay! I'm thinking I'm maybe getting a small, token raise that might improve on the 2% "this is the best we can do" raise we all got in January (hospitals aren't exactly doing well financially through this). Much to my shock, apparently since I'm a new supervisor on the low end of the scale, I ended up with the biggest single raise of my career.

THAT's how you come back to work after a vacation!

Nice!

Good evening Lodge!
I texted today because we are supposed to start up in less than a month and I have rec'd..... nothing. No notice of a start up meeting, request for background check, email telling me to do the stupid training things, nada. I got a text back- thanks les, I will need to look into it. Then I text my colleague- she has nothing either. And when she looked there is no listed lead instructor. Hmmmm.

Hi Lodge. In the office today for a video shoot. And them after work, a tasty lemon drop martini and catching up with a former co-worker. And seeing hottie bartender again. :)

For either the third or fourth time, I have been invited by the German Ambassador to the US for the opening of an exhibition documenting Jewish History in Germany on 9/13/21. It, like the others, was assembled by the Leo Baeck Institute which I am a member of. Will I finally decide to attend this time? Stay tuned. BTW, they require proof of vaccination or a test done the same day. I assume that all LBI members living in or near DC are invited.

Good Evening Lodge!

It is oppressively humid. If I wanted this kind of humid I would have moved to FLA (except that would be a daredevil move now)
Off to the lake in a few days except its possible that Henri may arrive there the same time we do. At least we can get in the water to cool off there.

It probably was even more oppressively humid here in 202-land today, and that was combined with some strong wind probably due to the remnants of Fred.

Greetings Lodge peeps. So, I'm here in the office again for day two of the video shoot. I probably could have left earlier to head home but the amount of time for me to shut down, pack up, get to my car (I did not park in our garage today) and drive home in traffic even though I only live about five miles away would take me about an hour and a half. I'd rather stay here and work.

Our agency peeps and my co-worker whose project this is invited me out to dinner. I agreed. Asked where. There's a new seafood place a block away. I checked the menu. It's all fancy and eclectic types of meals. This is on their website in the "About Us" section:

A revival of the New England fish house inspired by generations of Atlantic fishermen who have found their destiny in these rich and treacherous fishing grounds, inspiring New England-style seafood along the way. At The Banks we pay homage to their history, and our fish house is a celebration of their life’s work and the camaraderie of their lives at sea.

I'm thinking - that sounds like it will be good, old fashioned seafood meals. Yeah, no. Here's one of the menu options:

Faroe Island Salmon
pork belly, bok choy, cherries, spring pea-carbonara emulsion

The Faroe Islands are NOT in New England. There is nothing listed there that sounds remotely normal. I just want a piece of salmon. Looks like I'll just go with the Fish & Chips:

Fish & Chips
ipa battered georges bank haddock, slaw, french fries, remoulade

Looks good...but wait...remoulade? Googled it:

Remoulade Sauce is a classic spicy condiment from Louisiana. It starts with a mayonnaise base that's kicked up with Cajun seasoning, whole grain mustard, hot sauce and grated fresh horseradish.

Louisana is not New England. Seriously, if you promote that you are a New England fish house paying homage to the history of Atlantic fishermen, stop featuring menu items that have nothing to do with them!
