Plattsburgh State Hockey 2010-11 - "We still have to fine tune some things..."

Should we (the D-III Board) have an award for Transfer of the Year??? :D

Looks like it is a Quinnipiac Bobcats goaltender that is Plattsburgh bound. Being a Star Wars fan, love the guy's nickname.

Looks like the birds score the first D1 trans, looks like a goalie war is on again........anyone know anything about the boy???

This is part of the article that was written when he was recruited talking about Quinnipiac’s goalie situation

"With Fisher and Pisellini no longer with the team, Pecknold brought in two freshmen goalies to compete with Clarke for the starting job. Mathieu Cadieux was ranked highly in his class coming into the season, and for good reason. Cadieux spent his 2008-09 season with Cobourg Cougars of the OJHL and played extremely well, to the point where he was receiving attention from the pro scouts. Cadieux had offers from other schools but he chose Quinnipiac because he knew he would have a chance to compete for playing time."

nice link, should be fun to watch what unfolds with the birds in the nests,I mean net.....I also seem to remember, correct me if im wrong, like I had to even write that, that the Oswego goalie Hare who transfered in last yr from D1 was highly touted out of I think the OJHL, and one of the top goalies, will see what he has to say at Oz this yr.....

His junior stats seem pretty average from this season. WIll he push for the number one job?

Junior stats can be misleading. Parker Carroll's Junior stats were a whole lot worse than what he showed at NU. His Junior numbers were exceedingly ordinary, and his DIII stats were actually better.

I happened to read somewhere that Congressman Anthony Weiner is a Plattsburgh State Alumni. Looking further, it said he played hockey while a student there. Does anyone remember him as a player? Was he a regular, a star, a frequent scratch, or what. I believe he would have played around 1983-87.

He did NOT play varsity ice hockey at Plattsburgh, though he could have played hockey of some type, I was a student there during that time and do remember him, though I was not a personal friend, I was active in the International Relations Club and the Student Association of the State University (a statewide organization - not the same as the campus based SA) and we did occasionally meet, might have even had him in a class or two though I am not sure.

And because of (former) Rep. Anthony Wiener's more recent exploits... news sources like the NY Post, NBC, etc., can all be seen claiming that he played hockey at Plattsburgh. He was never on the varsity team, if he was on any team, but this appears to be a nasty stain on the program's repute ;)

I would say he was a frequent scratch.

Anyone catch the tape after the Bruins BIG WIN last night of the previous Boston championships? It showed Ken Hodge hoisting the cup. Just made me think about Brendon Hodge and how much he and his dad looked alike at that age. What a great series and I'm happy but the hubby is not!

Adams transferred to utica because plattsburgh doesnt offer his major and utica does.

Is that whats being spread? Hmm I guess thats a possibility, I feel like I hear that a lot. The thing is somethings definitely going on there if guys that are playing everyday are leaving. The opening night rosters from last year to 11-12 are going to be completely different. Not taking a shot at Emery or Moffit, I don:t wanna get in trouble with their cult followers, but realistically guys don"t seem to happy there.

"Cult followers" I like that. Who knows? It's not like they left Notre Dame or something. Half of all marriages end in divorce. People change their minds. I don't know why people start casting aspersions when a guy paying his own way decides to go somewhere else. It's Adams business where he goes. He doesn't owe some poster an explaination.

Re: Plattsburgh State Hockey 2010-11 - "We still have to fine tune some things..."

Just my .02 cents on the thought that Plattsburgh has some overturn almost every year within their program. Plattsburgh is able to recruit some of the better talent from the junior ranks and elsewhere. That "better" talent arrives at Plattsburgh and realize they are no longer the "big fish in a small pond". Those players decide other opportunities are available to them. Possibly Coach Emery has greater expectations for the program and these soon to be transfers understand their limitations for ice time within these greater expectations.
Do I believe Coach Emery runs a tight ship and doesn't tolerate certain behaviors or actions? Absolutely...
Now up until this point, everything I have written is only my opinion.
Here is a fact, Plattsburgh makes the NCAA's almost every year. Until this program doesn't make the NCAA's on a regular basis, then one could question what they are doing.

I heard from a reliable hockey source that Adams also has a job lined up upon completion of the degree from Utica. The job is thru a friend of his father who reportedly has a large construction business.
