Plattsburgh State 2013-14

Re: Plattsburgh State 2013-14

Anybody care to give us some insight on why the Alumni Game was cancelled this year? Since the season doesnt start til November, why not have it in October? Lot of PO'd alumni right now!!

OK, I'll bite on the Plattsburgh thread creation.

First day of official practices also marks the official announcement of Danielle Blanchard's return to the North Country.

"Former Cardinal standout Danielle Blanchard returns to Plattsburgh State, rounding out Kevin Houle's staff as the new assistant women's hockey coach for the 2013-14 season."

Can't have it in October, as only intra-squad scrimmages are exempt from the new Nov 1st start date for this year. Same reason the men's sched has no exhibition game against a canadian team this year.

I think he was talking about the game that features former Cardinals.

Probably more of a timing thing. Though the game hasn't ALWAYS coincided with homecoming weekend, homecoming was just a few days after official practices start. Probably more vital to get those practices in, especially since the season's first games aren't exactly walkovers.

Re: Plattsburgh State 2013-14

It's unfortunate since there is probably enough alumni now to have a game made up strictly of former players. The girls dont know anything cuz all they got was a simple text from Blanchard saying it was cancelled. No explanations, nothing. Tough to build a tradition in these circumstances. But...nuf said...hows the season shaping up? What's the team look like? Any good recruits on the horizon?

Plattsburgh will still have a Gove in uniform this season.

This is the largest number of players they've had on the roster since 09-10. They've certainly been deeper in quality than quantity these past few seasons (though who needs quantity when you have the quality of player that they have), so it's nice to see they have the luxury of extra bodies for when the injury bugs strike.

Also, every extra player on Plattsburgh's roster is someone not on the ice at a competing school.

Most amazing to me is Aveson has her 21 shutouts in a mere 63 games played, or 33% shutouts for her Plattsburgh career! The way she is seeing the puck and her D is playing in front of her she could easily go over 360 scoreless minutes opening the season.
