Planning a trip to Duluth/Superior??? Helpful Hints

Re: Planning a trip to Duluth/Superior??? Helpful Hints

It's still winter here, make no mistake. We tend to get the most snowfall in March. So bring your toque and your mukluks, folks! Anything about 35 degrees is a fluke and if it hits 40, you'll be blinded by ghostly white skin of our arms and legs because that, my friends, is shorts and t-shirt weather.

Other Soup-town places worth bellying up to:

Red Mug Coffee & Bakery-- your typical indie coffee and sandwich joint
Thirsty Pagan Brewing-- craft beers, good deep dish pizza. What more do you need?
Anchor Bar-- previously mentioned and worth mentioning again. A must.

I think Barker's is kind of a dump but the bar there is okay. As far as hotels, you're just sleeping there and the priority is hockey, right?

If you have a car, head across the bridge and head south on 1-35 for a few miles. Exit on 27th Ave West and treat yourself to an amazing meal at The Duluth Grill. You won't be disappointed. Three words: RED FLANNEL HASH... corned beef hash (homemade, not out of a can) with sweet potatoes? OMG.

Had a bison burger...quite good. (Or was that a muskox burger?)

Forgot to mention, it was on Fieri's Diners, Drive-Ins & Dives last year along with the Anchor Bar & Grill, Sara's Table Chester Creek Cafe (south of and not far from UMD) as well as others including Gordi's Hi Hat in Cloquet which is great but won't be open for the season yet.
