Penn State

Re: Penn State

What's is everyone thoughts on the Fighting Irish joining the Big 10 I think it's great and will only be the start for probably a few teams realigning with other divisions. Does anyone have any insides on where Arizona will land.

It's almost like there's a whole 26-page thread about that topic or something.

Re: Penn State

Nebraska - Omaha made it to the conference championship game of the CCHA in their 3rd year of existence (2000), just one game away from getting that auto-big to the NCAA's. It was their very 1st year in the CCHA

Much closer than what Penn State has done.

There is much more to a teams history other than the NCAA's. I guess you were only looking up UNO's NCAA history, not their TEAM history

I agree with a previous poster..

TROLL

Re: Penn State

That's right. Don't call PSU "Penn". The Nits would hate to be confused with an Ivy League institution. ;) :D

Haha

More like we would hate to be confused with the complete ghetto where that institution is located  (jk, I think it's not as bad as people make it out to be)

Re: Penn State

I see that Penn State went from having two proven goalies to none over night that should prove interesting, the Freshmen Funky only came into 4 games in relief and no starts. We see players leave programs early all the time to sign pro contracts but when goalies leave early it makes life a little more panicky.

I'm not sure if all of these comments were meant for me but if so, I'm posting in a Penn State thread as a Penn State fan, that hardly makes me the "TROLL" here. Adding to that, I clearly admitted that I'm new to the Division 1 hockey and I'm very happy to learn as I go.

You were correct, I hadn't looked at the CCHA so thank you for pointing that out. So after reading, I'm still seeing the same point. Since we were talking about success, they only made the tourney once in the CCHA membership and lost in the first round. Kudos for making it in their seventh year and that gives us 4 more to accomplish that. Almost winning the conference in their first year with CCHA, once again a great accomplishment. That's one that Penn State won't be able to claim.

So regardless of the haters doing their hating, Penn State will continue to climb. Success will come!

Re: Penn State

Penn State will bring in 10 Freshmen this year to go along with 8 from last year including 2 goalies who have never started a college game. This Should prove to be quite a test for the new program.

So what you're saying is that Michigan will go back to over-looking you and losing to PSU? I liked it better last year when you were good and we just didn't throw our sticks on the ice.

No Michigan lost some guys as well I think Penn State will be the first all recruited team just have a lot of young guys but they will be compitive.

Michigan loses guys every year. It is a very rare occurence to have a stud Senior on the team. I think Hagelin was the last one. Porter before that, and Hensick before that. We have had Freshmen leave the team early over the past two years. Connor this year and Larkin the year before. Of course I do not expect another CCM-line next season but someone will step-up.

Re: Penn State

I'd make a case for Wayne State, too. Yes, they were playing in the CHA, but they had 21-win seasons in years 3 & 4 and made the NCAAs that fourth year (21-17-2 overall, 11-7-2 CHA) as an at-large bid (the league would get their AQ in 2003-04). The Tartars fell off of a cliff after that senior class graduated, though. http://www.uscho.com/stats/history/wayne-state/mens-hockey/2015-2016/

GFM <— Greg Gardner kicked the net off its moorings.

I hadn't realized they made the NCAAs... Time... You a true monster

Re: Penn State

Aug is here not long before we will start getting a steady stream of news for all teams as they head back to class. Always exciting to hear what the new freshmen will bring to the table for all teams.

Re: Penn State

Penn State announced there new leadership group Goodwin as Captain and DeRosa and Robinson as assistants good choice going forward with 11 new freshmen and 8 sophomores they will need a good strong leadership group. They will have a good mix once they can get their legs under them, the start of the season might be a little shaky but I think they will be stronger at the finish this year.

Re: Penn State

Great to see Penn State and the rest of the Big 10 teams off to a good start, this season the Big 10 will be stronger then ever and gain more respect.
