Penn st. Job?????

Re: Penn st. Job?????

If you guys want a serious take (disregard if you don't, some of your names are cracking me up), it won't be Johnson or Gwozdecky in my opinion. Battista has made it clear that we're not breaking the bank and will be looking for value - qualified, good coaches, but maybe without the national titles.

One guy that I know to be a semi-insider (he's a long-time booster of the club team, friend of Battista's, and briefly coached it in the 70s) says Paul Pooley, Derek Schooley, Guy Gadowski, Casey Jones and Mike Cavanaugh are getting interviews. Schooley's been my horse in the race since Day 1, even including the pricey guys - has already started a program, knows PA, has the type of personality that will draw people in (love his Twitter), I also like that he's been at the USAF, which can't be the easiest place to recruit. RMU's made pretty nice progress for a program that just finished its 7th season, and under occasionally tough circumstances (demise of CHA).

Speaking as a BU fan, I think PSU should do anything and everything to bring him aboard. He's the man for the job.

Pretty high praise from a BU guy! Yeah, he'd be great, doesn't hurt that I think going more towards New England might not be a bad recruiting angle for us with the rest of the Big Ten leaning west. Honestly, I'm good with any of those guys except maybe Pooley, he's never done anything that great when removed from Jackson's coattails, although PC did get (way) worse after he left. Also, the current coach of our club team played for him, on his 1996 HEA tournament champs. I really, really hope that's not why he's there.

Color me surprised by this. You're playing against Minnesota, Wisconsin, Michigan, Michigan State and OSU. Reality is going to come in a hurry. Better get a great coach who can recruit.

If Jeff Jackson was available, I think he'd be the perfect guy. He gets good recruits right away. I'm a big Casey Jones fan and I think he's a great recruiter (did a great job on the recruiting trail at OSU) but unless they promise 5+ years of patience that's a tough situation.

Re: Penn st. Job?????

Names are flying for the Head job for Penn St.

Herb Brooks (Northern Heaven University)
Gene Roddenberry (Started Star Trek Program)
Bullwinkle J. Moose (Wossamotta U)

My list makes just as much sense as yours.
It was(is?) Watsamatta U. It is a canadian U located in the city of If Anyone Can, Yukon.

or, a good negotiating ploy. I am sure the guy didn't make $5 billion by over paying his workers.
