PC Hockey - Construction Continues

Re: PC Hockey - Construction Continues

Construction looks good and more talent ready to play, this program is heading in the right direction

Re: PC Hockey - Construction Continues

New video of the construction has been posted.

Everything looks great but no improvement on the sight lines? Tough to watch the game from the first few rows of the upper level. Even if you are higher up, I feel like the photographers are always in the way.

Good luck this season. You guys are going to have a scary team! Lets keep beating up on those "Big" schools...

As awesome as it would be to magically turn the Coffin into having the same seating set up as UML, UNH and BU, I'm very happy with the upgrades I see so far...

Re: PC Hockey - Construction Continues

I just hope they do something with the sound system, I have a headache just thinking about it

Re: PC Hockey - Construction Continues

David Berard is back with the program as he will serve as director of hockey operations. It will be great to have David back in the mix.

Re: PC Hockey - Construction Continues

Having overseen a fair amount of academic construction, this project is on a very fast track with the opening set for September 27. I wish I could be there. I'm not sure if anyone posted this video shot two weeks ago. This is extremely exciting to watch unfold. It has taken a long time, but I give the hockey guy lots of credit for pulling this off. It is exciting to see Nate turning this around on the ice. Go Friars!

^ the best part of that video is that Coach Deraney shot it. His enthusiasm for the program and for his team is incredible.

Also, it's killing me that I won't be on campus this fall for this. :(

Looking great! It'll be a thrill for the Mavs to be there for the first games in October! Looking forward to it!

So, I am not clear whether the Friends of Friars room still exists. Anyone know about that?

I was there today (outside the arena) and the windows are still there, but I have no idea if the function of the room is the same as it used to be.

It looks really, really nice though from the outside. It looks like an actual college arena now.

Re: PC Hockey - Construction Continues

Heard today that there is going to be an annual fee of $250.00 to get into the Judge Leary Room.

Re: PC Hockey - Construction Continues

You are correct it is 250 for season ticket holders, 500 for others. I believe you are credited with a portion of your season ticket price (at least if you bought regular season tickets and not the family pack) So further to answer the Freds yes it is still there and the latest photos show that area pretty much looking like it was (see women's hockey Providence College thread for link)

In the mean time it appears work to improve the defense continues. Leaman has committed a 6'1 185 dman I assume for '14. He's a Quebec native, prep school player who is headed now for a year of final seasoning in the USHL. It is the same route John Gilmour took and I get the impression there are other similarities in how they played.

Interesting enough Terrance Amorosa was taken in the last draft by the Flyers earlier than Anthony Florentino by Buffalo who was fairly highly regarded the past year in scouting reports though he hurt himself by passing on playing for the development team or for the USHL remaining in prep school. Amorosa was taken 2 rounds before Gilmour

Re: PC Hockey - Construction Continues

I can't wait for this season to get going. I was able to scoop up a family plan, $200 bucks for 4 tickets you can't go wrong. Excited to see this team this year and also see how the renovations look when they open up vs Minn St.
