Re: PC - A new start and a new venue

A few thoughts

11. Still might have been a reason. In the post game Leaman noted several of the players, notably Saracino, during the week Divver noted guys were held out of practice, though he left the impression it was a planned thing, and stretching back to game 2 at Maine Hart missed the game due to illness. Hopefully that is behind us.

At yesterday's basketball selection party at Alumni, spoke with Nate who had the family there. He said Saracino was sick all day, couldn't hold any food down. Was thinking of not playing him or only playing him on the power play. Saracino said no he wanted and was ready to play. Turned out to be a good move.

BTW, the entire hockey team showed up for the show for the bball team. Leaman was happy they came and thinks it can be a psychological boost for them next week. Also mentioned it's nice to make it to Boston for 3rd year in a row, but now it's time to step up and do something (i.e. get past the first round and even win it all). He felt last 2 years they were beaten by better team, but believe this year, with BC gone, they are as good as the other 3.

Re: PC - A new start and a new venue

Rhode Island hockey legend Chuck Scherza has died at 91. A player for the Providence Reds, Boston Bruins and NY Rangers, he never left Rhode Island after coming in the 1940s. For so many years a schoolboy hockey official, and I think college as well, he was known to so many of us for his long career. I remember Chuck and Zellio Toppazzini, former PC coach, working many games together.

RIP Chuck.

I'm very sorry to read of his passing. His grandson worked with our family out on Block Island and one Mr. Scherza's sons did a great job running the school system out on the Island.
The stories Mr. Scherza was kind enough to share on the occasions that he came to our restaurant were terrific and entertaining as anything I've ever listened to. He was a fierce competitor, a wonderful family man and a gentile giant (after his playing days were over). :)

Any news coming from Huxley Avenue? Everything I read is about the other tournament team in Elmhurst.

Saracino missed practice yesterday with Mauermann, Florentino, and Hart wearing red "no-contact" jersey according to Divver.

Re: PC - A new start and a new venue

So Mauermann wins the sportsmanship and defensive forward award. That was nice.

Re: PC - A new start and a new venue

Thought for today: just win tonight.
Yes.

What is up with the UNH fans sandbagging? I see the game tonight as tight and they all are expected Saracino to score 9,000 goals. Would it kill them to call us a dirty bunch of goons and post pictures of Colin Hemmingway scoring behind his back? I almost miss those days... ;)
(their thread is HILARIOUS right now. ABBA anyone?)

A little Darth Platt?

Re: PC - A new start and a new venue

Let's face it... we're not goons any more. Not since Pierce Norton and co. :(

God I miss him and his ilk. :)

Re: PC - A new start and a new venue

Yet I feel like we're more physical this year. Acciari especially.

We will beat you loser RI pig dogs like a drum. It will be so bad that you will consider forfeiting at the 2nd intermission. How's that? ;) Seriously, there should be 2 great games today and it is nice talking about them. The ABBA Led Zep posts had me wondering if my internet favorites for hockey were cross wired with my music message board faves.
