Outrunning a Ground Nest: AIC @ Michigan Tech, 10/7 & 10/8

Re: Outrunning a Ground Nest: AIC @ Michigan Tech, 10/7 & 10/8

Mel's short but motivating talk following the second period:
"Do you guys know who you are playing tonight? That team over there in the other lockerroom would take last in the new WCHA. You guys lose this game, and none of you will be on the roster next week..."

But seriously, I wasn't able to watch the game so I would be curious how the team looked. I would guess Mel is putting some new systems in place. If that is the case, this is their first opportunity at game speed to execute those plans. If everything is not perfect at this point, I can buy that. I would just hope for a few minutes of "that looked to be exectuted much better than last year" or "ah, I can see what he is trying to do there, it just didn't work tonight."

Other than goaltending, Michigan Tech pretty much dominated all aspects of the game. You could tell they lost their groove for a while after AIC's second goal, but they rebuilt their swagger slowly.

But did you meet the AIC fan?

Prediction: AIC does not finish last in the AHA this year.

Nonetheless, a needed sweep. So, for Tech fans' listening pleasure:

Aside on Friday's game.

AIC only killed one PP out of the 4 (correct?)

I heard Saturday that they had not practiced on the ice the entire week.

I was real impressed by #20 on AIC.

How does a DI hockey team not practice on the ice a week before the game?
