Outdoor Hockey at Notre Dame?

Re: Outdoor Hockey at Notre Dame?

If you do one, try to get a non-conference opponent that travels well.
Do you have any rivals outside the CCHA?
Remember, BC-BU at Fenway did not have a massive crowd.
UW should have reduced the ticket cost and opened up the upper deck, many people wanted tickets up there in the first 10 rows.
Decent ice outside is difficult to maintain. I thought they should have brought out the zamboni at the 10 minute mark of each period.

Do one on a real pond! I would love to see a puck fly out of the rink and land near someone ice fishing 50 yards away!
The Sioux fans like to toss dead gophers onto the ice, how about live bluegills?

BU-BC sold out. The crowd wasn't massive because Fenway Park only seats 38k and they where still able to sell all of the luxury box seats.

Did BC and BU play another outdoor game that I was unaware of? Because the one I attended had a pretty huge crowd.

My fear is that, given this year's experiment at Ford Field and the amount of outdoor games, we might see an attempt at an outdoor Frozen Four.

I can't see that happening. There is a reason all these game are in January/early February, and all have been no further south than Chicago. There is absolutely no place to hold an outdoor game in April, with any reasonable assurance the weather would cooperate. Too much chance for unseasonably warm weather, too much chance for rain in a lot of the country. I know an outdoor game was held years ago in Nevada in September IIRC, but that was an exhibition game, not the marquee event for an entire season. Even the NCAA can't be THAT stupid. ...can they???
