Oswego State Lakers 2025-26...Let's Take it up a notch.....

Should be a good one against Bart and even though UU lost last night they are still very fast and skilled from what I hear.

with Xmas break only a few weeks away, any rumors on any new players coming in during the break???? Either at Oz or anywhere else??? I am sure The U is looking hard as hell...
With this new landscape in D1 (Univ of Maine has 24 new recruits scheduled to come in for '26-'27, and decreasing roster spots) I can see some healthy scratch or C/D line D1 kids making the move to D3 during the break, and not waiting to get shown the door next season.

Interesting tidbit from D3hockeynews's article today. When talking about Hamilton and Utica rarely playing each other despite the close proximity, he says "for now, I can tell you there’s a chance these two see each other next season in a holiday tournament not played in Utica, you can figure out where that one might be on your own". Considering both of teams are to be considered near the top of d3 right now, the only tournament that comes to mind that usually has that many good teams in it is the oswego holiday classic. Unless they bring back the Tampa invitational none of the other holiday tournaments not in Utica seem to fit the mold.

makes sense to me, they go where they were recruited b4 ,or they also go to the team that gives them the Benjamins,or maybe to a school that has their major :) :) :) , or even where their friends are.....something tells me the U will get 1 or 2.....

Hopefully we see Millburg or i could see the door swinging out instead of in. Who knows why he's on the pine. Maybe a lingering injury and just dressed as emergency.

I tell you what if they get like Utica, Hamilton, and Geneseo wow what kind of tourney that would be. I'd have to take the trip up again.

Not likely. Ed has always been "What have you done for me lately?" with goaltenders.
Once again I guarantee we have a goalie with a M on his back to start his name...I would imagine it's McCarthy,as he has seen some action so far this season, while Milberg has watched....Someone on these boards calls Hobart the underdog,lol,3X reigning National Champs ......I dont think soooo....Hopefully the students show up and give The Lakers a boost, they will need it....They need to come out buzzing and not stop, throat clear 3rd period in Genseseo....Big test this weekend boys, the U is stacked no matter what their record says, they have played a ton of top teams...AS the title of the thread states,Lets Take it Up a Notch .......Let's Go Lakers!!!!!!

Turnout should be better than last year. The weekend b4 thanksgiving was an awful decision for the teddy bear toss since all the students went home. Weekend b4 finals wouldn't seem much better but i remember a good student turnout the last time they had it at this time. Also worth noting they only play 8 games this 1st semester when they normally play 11-13 ish. Good news for us fans (and bad news for the players) once the schedule resumes jan 2 they dont get a single weekend off for the rest of the year unless they get a 1st round bye in the national tournament

Here is my take on tomorrow nights game (coming from an OSU baseball alum who loves hockey). It will come down to special teams! The team that spends the least amount of time in the Sin Bin will win the game. These are, at least at this point of the season, two evenly matched teams statistically. Little things will count. Great tending so far for both teams, great defenses, great players, great coaches, great atmosphere at the Deb. This is why you want to play in OZ!! Best show in D3 hockey!! It won't be an easy weekend. Enough said!! GO LAKERS!!

12* in the OZ today I’m certain Hobart should feel right at home tonight. Hopefully it will never as cold in the Deb as the cooler
well we got down to 5 last night ,not fun....I think the Cooler helps Bart out, hard ice for a fast team=very good for The Statesmen....Lets hope we get the first one tonight and get rollin...Let's Go Lakers!!!!!

Well they have finally been brought down to earth. Outskated and outhustled for pretty much most of the game. That being said they're some positive takeaways. 3/4 Hobart goals were garbage rebound or faceoff goals which can be cleaned up. Beaver also had a pretty terrible night 2 goals on 19 shots which is a 0.894 save %. Now that they've been sucker punched in the gut, hopefully the players and the coaches make the proper adjustments for next time because this was a 2 goal game (empty netter for those who only read the final score) despite Oswego being outclassed. Onto that god awful Utica Aud.

Well didnt get that first all important goal thats for sure,WOW we forgot the start time of the game ,do that tonight and we will have the same outcome...Bart is fast and it showed last night, beat us to most pucks and won the battles for the puck. They outforechecked us and played very well positionally....Not a good showing by us, or they are just that good,or both....Well onto the U tonight, where we have not had much success as of late, hope we can do better btw the pipes as well tonight....Bart hopefully woke us up, now do we answer the bell tonight???.....Let's Go Lakers!!!!

After last night's game where Hobart was better in almost every aspect of the game, except face offs. The Lakers either have to pick the play WAYYYY up or a way to slow down Hobart. The speed which they played was just too fast for us to keep up. The Hobart team I saw last night was one of the most complete teams I have seen in many years. Either way I think the season before the break has been a very successful one, regardless of tonight's outcome. Don't know what is up with Milberg. Being ranked 4th was a stretch of us. As Bakdraft21 mentioned hopefully this will be a wakeup call.
Oswego '88

We can hope to see a good game in Utica tonight. It would be great to rebound from last night. Hobart plays a very simplistic game, much speed, few mistakes. I labeled this team in March after seeing them in the championship, a lunch pail hockey team. They are not fancy but they are solid working machine. Well coached. It will be a great game if anyone beats them. Another observation. After winning the Chsmpionships they are not taking their foot off the gas. Those boys were on their feet pounding their boards with their sticks all night. They were excited to play and they showed it. My hat of to Coach Taylor and his staff, we are lucky to have them in our Conference

A side note , last night our goal net judges were informed that they would not be needed anymore. One has been in that cage for almost four decades. They were given a email to tell them this. It would have been better if they had been informed earlier, or perhaps told they would be done at the end of this season. Apparently this was an NCAA decision. We are aware that this will be the norm in most conferences. What I have a problem with is how will a ref be able to keep his eye on the clock and the net?

After seeing them in person last night, who is going to keep Hobart from winning their 4th in a row? Hamilton? St. 'Bert, Adrian? Not, not, not!! They play with swag, confidence, skill, size and did I mention swag? !!
