Oswego State Lakers 2025-26...Let's Take it up a notch.....

Somehow a tie is very fitting as they went from 100% deserving to win that game to 100% not deserving to win the game at all. The tradition of stinking up our own tournament continues but at least we get one Elmira game on our schedule this year. Tonight seems to be the night of upsets so we still hold the last at large bid for now. Were on thin ice for sure. No weeks off for the rest of the season so now's the time for them to lock in and hopefully rack up some wins.

Not our best effort, we looked slow and did not cover in our D zone and it cost us, cant take periods off as we did, got lucky to go to OT ,and we did not take advantage of it.....

Not beating a non ranked team is death when we look at pairings especially in March. As it is we have one ranked team scheduled the rest of the second half. Not winning this tournament is costly.

A bit more consistency in last night's game. At least we played well for the first 2 periods. Wheels kinds went flat in the third. I was great to see Haughian and Gilmore on defense. Thought they played well and hopefully will see more ice time. Manzi played well and it seems that the Lakers play better when he is in net verse McCarthy. As already mentioned, need to win the 2 games against ranked teams, Hobart and Genny. Who knows strange things happens in the Conference tourney. Would have liked to see a Babson/Lakers match up. Might have to reach back into history and pull Gilmartin for the game winner. What do you think #5.

without a doubt, the Platty win is not a big deal as they are not doing it so far this yr, lost to Utica and bart so far not making a at large bid any ear....

LOL,yea that was the mini -game if I remember in Babson as well, fun stuff won a few BIG OT games that year....Should be a interesting run the rest of the year...

Manzi does give up a lot of nice rebounds though. He also had the costly turnover in the Utica game while we had the lead. I do agree they seem to play better under him maybe since he's a freshman they think they have to cover for him more?? We have several trap games coming up so they better play excellent defense for all the goalies that play. At Skidmore is gonna be tough with that Olympic ice, platty needs no explanation and Cortland/buff state have given this team some fits the past 2 years. Naz also a sneaky 9-4 right now which is better than all the other 4 teams I just mentioned.

yes that skiddy/platty weekend along with the bart/genny weekend will be important to say the least

McCarthy was facing #6 (NPI) Babson, Manzi #75 Elmira, so not a fair comparison at all. As noted, Manzi's rebounds are a problem. Most of the goals we gave up this weekend are on our defense, not the goaltenders. DEFENSE DEFENSE DEFENSE! We have been suspect on defense all year so far, letting the goalie hang out on his own. If the strategy is to push the defense up the ice, it's not working for us as too many times opponents have gotten around them leading to odd man rushes.

Morrisville has been dangerous on our ice in the past, and Cortland has had our number lately. What on paper should be a manageable weekend could easily go south. Not to mention that we're still in our problematic "Bermuda Triangle" of January 1-15.

I like the throwback "wavy" jerseys a lot more than the current "steering wheel" (???) ones, but then I'm old school anyway. Go Lakers!

We move up by having other teams move down. Most of the top 10 only have 1-2 losses so far which historically doesn't hold up. Dont forget Geneseo is ranked 13th in the NPI which is the ranking that actually matters so they have 2 ranked teams coming up. Naz and Utica are also slowly climbing the NPI ranks which can boost our SOS. Tieing Williams is unacceptable, but I think they're still 1-2 upsets away from real disaster setting in.

Just this year? Been hearing this tune a couple years now.......Forecheck, backcheck, paycheck, boys.

Not sure if it's win and your in but, they may need a little help if they dont upset bart and beat Genny and the rest....as for the YAC playoffs and an outbid, never know....Let's go Lakers!!!!

First game of the year for Milberg and couldn't have wanted a better outcome. Now the interesting question who the first goalie, #2, #3? I hope Manzi will get the nod for #2 with Milberg #1. Just my thoughts.

Its one of those good problems where u got 3 goalies who can win u almost any game. McCarthy is rocking a 0.934 and Manzi has a 0.923 so far this year, whereas Milbergs track record speaks for itself. It's certainly not an easy decision. Personally Id go with with Milberg and McCarthy as they have experience succeeding in high pressure games (whiteout, Utica, Geneseo) whereas Manzi has previously stated rebound problems and has not done too well in his time against Hobart and Utica. Now granted thats probably the worst draw imaginable for any oswego goaltender (the defense let both goalies down in that hobart game), but as a freshman he's clearly shown that he can handle weaker opponents no problem already. No need to rush the kid, I would still use Milberg while we still got him.

neither Manzi or McCarthy stands out to me, yes I would go with the experience of Milberg at this point.....Should be a close one tonight vs. the Dragons...Let's Go Lakers !!!

Great win. Didn't look good for the 1st 2 periods but looked great in the 3rd after some adjustments. Thanks to some other upsets around the country we're now back to #5 in the NPI and have the 1st at large bid.

Not the best showing, but a wins a win, to much coasting on our forecheck, one hand on the stick, and not finishing checks, small things will kill ya in then end...lets hit the net more with our shots ,several chances wide and high......shut-out weekend, nice, but not our best hockey.....Onto Buffalo.....Lets Go Lakers!!!

Lordie don't get a head of yourself with the at large bit. Still a lot of hockey left for all to play. It was an interesting rotation with the goalies with Manzi getting the harder of the 2 games. Maybe Coach wanted to ease Milberg into his game and see how he played.
