Overall it was a nice game for Oswego but they didn't dominate. I thought Platty actually out played the Lakers in the 2nd. Also the lakers lost their descpline a bit in the second even though a couple of the calls were weak but that is the game. The big turning point was the 2 min 5 x3 followed by the 5 x4 where the Cards did nothing on the powerplay. That gave the Lakers a big shot of Energy. Hare played great the best game I have seen him play and diffently deserves AA status. The goalies were the difference last night. Hare came up hugh and Plattys goalie let in 2 soft goals. Hopefully we get a third treat of this game in 2 weeks.
Emory has a lot of questions to answer if the Lakers and Cards meet in 2 weeks.

Side note it was great to see some of the players of the late 80's at the game. I think they could still lace them up and show the youngsters how it is done.

I was just reading back over Russell's playoff column and It looks like all of the spots are set, except for the 6th spot. Let's see if I have this right:

#1- Oswego
#2- Plattsburgh
#3- Buff State
#4- Geneseo (wins the tiebreaker over Freddy)
#5- Fredonia
#6- Brockport/Potsdam

If Brockport beats Morrisville and Potsdam loses to Oswego, Brockport gets the 6. If they both lose, win or tie, Potsdam is in.

So, you end up with Fredonia at Genny and Brockport/Potsdam at Buff State on Wednesday. Lowest seeded winner goes to Oswego on Saturday, the other goes to Platty.

In your estimation which two goals by Oswego were soft? On the first goal Cadieux could have challenged a little better but it was a bang, bang play. The second he had no chance on and the third was a rocket by Ayotte that came off a blocked shot with a ton of traffic in front. Cadieux looked a little shaky but I don't think you can fault him on any of the goals.

Pretty much. Maybe the first? Didn't look like a screen. Just a rocket shot. Heck a lot of goalies let in rockets once and a while. The second, like I said in the other thread, you have a team like Oswego coming at you 4-on-2 ...pick your poision. And really it was 4-on-1.5 as the other one was a forward because Grace was caught up front. I think Chewy was expecting a pass to the right, and it went left. Just couldn't get over in time. Great open ice movement by the Lakers. The angle and posistion where he shot it from made it near impossible. The third you can tell he lost track of the puck after the original shot and almost got it on time. Plattsburgh had just as many chances, just don't have the finishers to capitalize them. They need to stop being pretty and do the dirty work...As I said in the other thread, I think Craig not being there was a big problem. Probably one of the best Cardinals recently and brings a big presence to the ice. As someone put last night, had Plattsburgh been able to finish and capitalize like Oswego did, it could have easily been 4-2 Plattsburgh after 2. They need a good confidence game. Not so sure thats coming any time soon now.

I was actually surprised at how little red there was in front of the Oswego net all night. Some of that was Oswego doing a good job of keeping them away but some of it looked like a lack of willingness to get in the dirty areas. They have excellent speed and great board play but they all look like they have zero confidence with the puck in front of goal.

Congrats Lakers on being I think the 4th team to go undefeated for the SUNYAC Regular Season. A good game. It was to bad the rest of Potsdam didn't play like their goalie did. He play a very good game to keep them in it as long as he did. Didn't understand why Potsdam didn't pull the goalie sooner? The lack of displine will kill the lakers one of these days. 3 of 6 periods with a penality in the last minute is not good and I am sure Coach will stress it. I don't understand why he played with the Whitelaw line and it showed. Besides Whitelaw not much from his line. Not a big Mather fan but the last 2 games were the best ones he has played in in his career. He is looking like a Captain. The fun now starts for the next 2 post seasons.
Great coverage by the guys in the booth. I think you are going a better job than Steve Levie and Jay Bibberman did when they called the games.

McFarland was the only bright spot for the Bears. He made some very good saves and he looked really locked in all night. The rest of the team was very lethargic and didn't look like a team that really had to win to secure a playoff spot outright. They backed their way into the playoffs and with a little effort they could be tough out if McFarland brings his A game.

During the broadcast they said he got cut by a skate I believe. It couldn't have been to bad for he returned.
Norm you are a long time Card fan and I am sure you were either at last nights game or saw it online. When did Platty start playing an European style of hockey? This is not the style that I saw growing up in P'burg, or saw till a few years ago? It was a physical dominating style. Is Emory getting soft in his old age???

Mather did get a nasty cut that needed to be stitched up, but he is back to normal. A little sore as expected but shouldn't be a problem for him getting in this coming Saturday.

McFarland I think will be a key piece if the Bears can give him some help in front. He can only do so much for the team. Buff State should be worried a little of Potsdam gets up early. However, I'm always worried when my Lakers play in the semis. I hope Eddie tells them not to take anyone lightly.

It was scary for sure. I was sitting a few rows behind the Oswego bench near the locker room entrance. All of a sudden I see the trainer run toward the locker room. I saw Mather run after him, holding his arm, which was almost spurting blood. A few minutes later, two EMTs ran down the steps and went in.

Thankfully, he was back in the second period. The funny thing is, I'm pretty sure he didn't get cut on the ice. It must have happened while he was on the bench. Either way, great to see him back out there and playing well.

Very nice video. I just noticed that I am in this video a couple of times. That Press Box is one of the best in the business.

Great video once again. I almost forgot about the goal called off, and how animated the ref directly behind the net was in calling it a goal? Was a whistle blown prior to the non-goal?

I was told he originally thought the puck crossed the line but after seeing where the puck was, he changed his mind. That's what I was told.

Who is the other undefeated team in Oswego?

Mens hoops finished a smite better (no ties:cool:) then the icemen with a perfect 18-0 conference record.
