Re: Oswego State Hockey 2011-2012 Season

As far as I know, we won't be seeing either of them this season, but the injury situation is always very hazy... we don't get a lot of distinct information.

That's the one thing I learned with Eddie after one week of being around him. Asking him a question about injuries is a waste of time. I asked him once and never again as he said it was a legal issue (like Derek brought up with HIPPA laws). BUT, you could get the news sometimes from other players. I would assume that Smrke is out for the whole year as that is a hard injury to come back from. I know there was some debating on whether Paul was to get surgery or have things work out on their own. Maybe that could be a question directed to him? If he doesn't answer clearly then we will just assume he is done for the year too.

Oswego is supposed to get anywhere from 7-11 inches of snow by tonight, I hope that the Curry players make it there safe

Safe travels to all who venture out to the Campus Center tonight no matter how far you have to go. The Voice of the Lakers is one of those out on the road as we speak.

How's the weather supposed to be for tomorrow? I live in Watertown so I travel through the Tug Hill. Just wanted to see if it's going to clear up for tomorrow. Thanks.

Re: Oswego State Hockey 2011-2012 Season

It is supposed to be cold, high in the teens with a chance of lake effect snow for tomorrow. Right now it is snowing and VERY windy, the snow is blowing making for difficult driving conditions. I came to work today at 5 am and it was a little mild and light rain at 6:15 i looked outside and it snowing blowing hard!!!

Thanks for your concern... 3/5 of our crew has arrived safely so far.

Re: Oswego State Hockey 2011-2012 Season

Two recruits from the Pembroke Lumberkings were there tonight. One is Brandon Gagne who is a forward and the other a goalie by the name of Francis Dupuis. Dupuis and Gagne were both on the Lumberkings who won the RBC Cup last year. It seems that Dupuis played out out of his mind last year and in the playoffs. This year he is a shade above .500 but that could mean a lot of things. His save % and GAA are pretty solid. He also played in three games for the Guelph Storm which is in the OHL where a lot of the top talent goes in juniors. If we can get him that will be a great find. Gagne on the other hand seems like your prototypical scoring forward. He had 26 and 39 last year and is well on his way to similar numbers this year with 11 and 18. It will be interesting to see if these guys end up in Green and Gold come next fall.

It's also technically a HIPPA violation from what I understand.

It's more than technically a violation. Without written consent from a person you can't release medical information about somebody. If a person wishes to self-disclose, or files written notice, third parties can release the info. It's just like the Education equivalent FERPA. I can't disclose information to anyone else about a student's grade without their consent. The student him/herself can do so however.

Checked out Francis Dupuis stats and they do look solid the noticed his age he could be Oswego's version of Chris Weinke since by the time he graduates he will be 27 lol

Re: Oswego State Hockey 2011-2012 Season

Good game last night by the Lakers. I still don't think they played to their potential, but it's a win. Dan Jones had a GREAT game. A lot of the saves he made, he made from either his back or his stomach. I still wasn't all that happy with the defense, which led to a lot of those saves. It was a bit of a shakeup with Mather not out there, but I'm really starting to think Moodie is the go to player on this team. He seemed to play better than anyone out there last night and that's not the first time that's happened. And it was good that they ONLY took 4 penalties. They need to keep that up if they hope to make it in the NCAA's.

Big test tonight against a rested Utica team. Hopefully we can get a bigger crowd in the CC tonight!

If he played in the OHL he will more than likely have to sit at least one semester or a whole year as the NCAA deems playing major junior professional.

Agree with your call about the game. Tonight will be a real test for them. Crowd should be better... I think it was a testament to our hockey fans that so many showed up for a non league game on such a rotten night weather wise!
