Re: Oswego State Hockey 2011-2012 Season

Because I'm bored I went ahead and figured what the point spread would be based off of everyone's guesses to this point in the SUNYAC pickem thread. The exact spread based on an average of the 21 people who posted is Oswego 4.05 to Geneseo 2.05. so basically 4-2. This isn't really scientific at all but it will be interesting to see if the final score is actually close to that number.

well, surprisingly the spread of 4-2 was dead on. The spread for tonight's game is 6.31 OZ to 1.48 BP, lets call it 6-1 OZ

...ACL...done for season

Has Eddie confirmed it? I haven't seen it anywhere yet.

Either way, Hare's been doing pretty well. Of the two goals he let by last night, one was off a BAD turnover and the other was just a good shot from Genny. Hare didn't play a lot last season, but from what I've seen, he's definitely improved.

Re: Oswego State Hockey 2011-2012 Season

Maybe my standards are too high but I thought last nights game was very poorly played by both teams. It wasn't the kind of battle I was expecting from the two teams picked to finish first and second in the SUNYAC. Everyone seemed to be bogged down all night and there wasn't a whole lot of crisp play on either end.

Oswego's first goal came on a bomb from Whitelaw after an awful Genny turnover. Genny's first goal was also an awful turnover. On Oswego's third goal Genny never picked up Mather coming out of the box and Boots hit him with a nice pass. Goalies were decent on both sides and both sides had some guys that played well but they also had some that were so-so and some that were just awful. I thought the Freshman Gertsakis was Oswego's best defenseman all night long making some real solid plays on both ends.

For tonight I would like to see Eli Kim-Swallow and Nick Rivait in the lineup and Jones in goal and a little more effort by the home team would be nice as well. They kind of got away with another lackluster performance last night and I don't want that to become a pattern like it did last season.

2 out of 3......... will probably be in. Game break down was right on in my opinion. Well said.

Re: Oswego State Hockey 2011-2012 Season

I agree with much of what Laker28 said, and echoed some of the same things in a earlier post in the Whiny thread probably the wrong place to put a recap, but oh well. I think we will see Rivait or Kim Swallow and Jones will come into relieve tonight. I don't think he starts based on how he has been doing. If it "ain't broke don't fix it". By the way I think Bobby earned another start as well as Buckles after last nights performances.

Re: Oswego State Hockey 2011-2012 Season

I watched most of the game online last night (did miss some because Calgary was also playing and I was watching that game on TV.) That was the first time I have seen Hare play but to me it looks like he goes down into the Butterfly a little to quickly. The 2nd goal it looked like Vit had the puck and before he shot Hare was already down which gave him the top corner to shot at. But again that was the first time seeing Hare play and online so if I am wrong please say so. I will agree the game looked a little sloppy with players going for the big hit rather than playing the game.

Beckwith out indefinitely with knee injury
BY MIKE KRAFT (MANAGING EDITOR)

In what has been an injury-riddled career for senior goaltender Paul Beckwith, a knee injury can now be added to that list, as this season’s starting goalie has been sidelined with a knee injury that will keep him out of the starting lineup for a unspecified amount of time.

Beckwith sustained the injury during the first period of the season opener at Elmira College on Friday, Oct. 21, a game where the Lakers would end up winning, 7-3, behind the strong play of junior goaltender Andrew Hare.

“I was going to my left and my knee deciding to go to the right,” Beckwith said. “I felt a pop. It didn’t hurt right away because of the adrenaline, but later on in the game it started to hurt.”

Beckwith is scheduled to return home to Cleveland, Ohio during the Thanksgiving break, where he will be evaluated by his doctor. Beckwith has been receiving treatment to his knee by the Oswego State team doctors. It is unknown what part of his right knee is damaged, as Beckwith did not want to speculate until he was 100 percent sure, but he did say that it will keep him out for awhile.

“It could be a month or it could be the entire season,” Beckwith said.

According to Beckwith, the injured knee has been bothering him during the preseason and he hoped that the knee would recover on its own. Beckwith has had his knee operated on before in a procedure that removed some cartilage.

“I was figuring it could have just been that, but I wasn’t really sure because it was hurting in a different place,” Beckwith said.

With Beckwith out of the lineup, the Lakers have turned to Hare to fill his spot in net. In five games so far this season, Hare has compiled a 4-1-0 record, compiling a 1.72 goals against average and a .937 save percentage. Oswego State junior goaltender Dan Jones may see some time in net as well.

Re: Oswego State Hockey 2011-2012 Season

If the stats are correct Lakers have had fifty shots on goal in each game this weekend - I will take that as a very good trend! Last year they seemed more intent on making the perfect pass but I like this much better - lots of shots and crowd the crease!

Dude, that's awesome.
