Re: Oswego State Hockey 2011-2012 Season

Found it somewhat amusing that Boots is still repping the Ohio State in the interview;). His quote holds true though - it is to the championship or bust now, and busting is getting old (and "bitter" tasting) to them and us, so...on with the show in less than 24. Anyone making the trip to Elmira before the CC opening?

Roster has changed significantly - these additions look pretty good, and I'll forget how much it bites away at my movie script if they gel and fly.

Re: Oswego State Hockey 2011-2012 Season

Not sure if this has been posted yet but....the Saturday game in Oswego will of course be broadcast of WTOP channel 10 (campus) and 96 (off campus). But it will also be shown on Time Warner 3 - which is channel 1027 in Oswego. Don't know where else it will be shown, but it should be available in most of central New York on that channel.

I'm excited, should be a good match-up against two of the best teams in DIII. See you all in Elmira

Re: Oswego State Hockey 2011-2012 Season

Ty for posting that, I was coming on here to see if anyone had any tickets cause my Gf hadn't gotten one yet, we're all set now though.

Re: Oswego State Hockey 2011-2012 Season

Just got done listening to the Lakers win tonight. It sounded like the lakers are starting where they left off from last year in taking silly trips to the box. Would like to get a perspective of one who was at the game. Did Hare play as well as it sounded? Did they just wear out the Eagles as the game went on with a 5-1 advantage after the first? How did the new recruits look?
Will be there for tomorrows game.

Hare looked good, but after holding off the 5-3 powerplay you could see oswego wake up. That was the tipping point IMO. Was hoping to see rjay Berra play but he wasn't dressed for the game. The moodie, whitelaw line looked best to me. Just my opinion though

Re: Oswego State Hockey 2011-2012 Season

Josepher was good and bad, saw some good stuff, but he definitely made some mistakes

Re: Oswego State Hockey 2011-2012 Season

how did Josepher look, and Carr??

Josepher looked like he hadn't played in a few years. Made several bad decisions, lost a lot of 50/50 battles. He got better as the game went on. His goal was a thing of beauty. Nifty drag around the pressing defender and a nice wrist shot with a crowd in front. He logged a lot of minutes. Looks very big out there on the ice. But as big as he was, he wasn't the power defender you would expect. Led with his stick instead of a shoulder, which could be a good thing. Will have to get a little quicker on his feet (I think the whole defense could get a little quicker). Too many times you saw an Elmira player beat the Oswego defender to the corner for the puck. There was one play where the Laker defenders had nearly a 1/2 a neutral zone head start on the Elmira attacker, and they were beat to the puck as the Elmira attacker split the D. Just not acceptable.

Carr was a pretty gritty player with some good hands. Not sure if the lines are right at this time. Seemed to be a big drop off after the Moodie line. Again, it was hard to get a read on the whole Oswego team as it seemed they were on the PK the whole night. There was for sure a lot of rust in that opening period. The first 10 minutes of the first I was starting to wonder if Oswego would not only host an NCAA game, but a SUNYAC playoff game they looked that bad.

I am at a total loss on Beckwith. He seemed fine at the end of the 1st. He kept Oswego in the game for sure. The first goal was a tad on the weak side, but followed that up with a great glove save.

Think you nailed it with the fact that Josepher hasnt played in a few yrs, last yr he got more ice in his booze ,and im sure it will take a few more game to get up to speed...I think both teams ,from what I have read, would have benefited from a exhibition game,...no word on whats what with Beck, I think it may have been a shake-up, and Hare stood tall...ok thnks remy and should be 2 great games today and tonight...

Re: Oswego State Hockey 2011-2012 Season

collegehockeystats has the box score up...main thing that jumped out at me was Josepher and Rodrigues were a Plus 4....mather -2...look for boots and mather tonight to step it up......and we should see a few different faces in the line-up as well....on the website as of now it is SOLD OUT

Re: Oswego State Hockey 2011-2012 Season

Im sure it's too early to say, but since Beckwith was pulled last night will Hare start against Elmira since he did well against them or will Beckwith get a second chance? I wasn't able to listen to the game, I just saw the box score. I hope he can turn things around he is one of the better Goalies in D-III as evident by his All American status from last season. GO LAKERS!!!
