Re: Oswego State Hockey 2011-2012 Season

As has been said in the Whiteout-2 thread, with the NCAA second round game (presuming Oswego wins Friday) and the Oswego HS hockey team's state playoff game both happening at the same time as Oswego/Platty, the crowd may be down just a bit. But I would guess we end up with a sellout. Hopefully, the students will be lining up early on Saturday.

I too hope for a full house - this will be the last huzzah for the students before break begins and the kids streak home, leaving behind a rather stagnant barn hosting an uninteresting NCAA Quarterfinal match. Tix still limited, btw, but the SS looks sold out:).

It will be a fine day for the city of Oswego if everything pans out well Saturday night.

I have to take some offense to your calling it a stagnant barn and an uninterestng match. Town people and alumni have supported Laker hockey for a very long time and are ALWAYS there, not just for some games. We may not be as loud but we are there in force and give our full support, not just when it suits us. The student turnout for the last playoff game was terrible but we were there and will always be there.

Easy on the offense mate - perhaps I failed to put less subtle sarcasm in my comment. Since when was an NCAA tilt in Oz ever dull?;) Sorry about the confusion. I've never missed the Quarterfinal (even as a student), but for the vast student population, from their perspective, it means hanging around long after exams end, getting kicked outta the dorms, and then seeing yet another game which to pay for, and means that the Lakers advance to a site they'll never see.

I'm on YOUR side. Anybody who makes the effort to show up and cheer on the Green and Gold is alright in my book, and we all know that the majority of students are highly fickle. That's where the locals and alums come in, and maybe just a few who love the game of hockey.

Satisfied?

BTW, lets keep this up - time to kill this thread before the afore mentioned tourney kicks off!

I have been attending Laker games since the mid to late 70's......**** I'm getting OLD!!!!

Oswego's BB team's struggling against Endicott, 56-43. I'd guess about 7 to go (no clock on webfeed).

A shot of motivation - 62-56 now with 4:30 to go.

Tied to OT! Oswego may have their trifecta of sporting events tomorrow yet!

BB came back... going to OT now...missed foul shots at end of game could have won it ugh

VICTORY! 72-71 That was a heck of an effort - glad those foul shots didn't come back to bite 'em...
Hockey tix continue to be available now, I'll bet. Good win!

I should not have used the word offense - I really didn't mean it to be harsh. I just read responses on here sometimes that make me think old time fans aren't really appreciated - that's it's all about the students. I enjoy all the support the Lakers get from all quarters and I am really looking forward to another SUNYAC Championship tonight!

The only offensive thing is the thought of a "hockey fan" going to a BB game rather than a great Playoff Hockey game. I thought SUNY Oswego dropped BB with football back in the '70's? Good to see they didn't. I can't wait to see what Emery has come up with to slow down the Lakers offense, you know Plattsburg will have a team ready for a run. Man, I love playoff hockey!!

Well Prof you got your wish. Interesting that Norwich has 51 pages and Oswego has 50 pages. Must be norn1909 posted equally between to the two threads. His extensive footnote titles take up some page space
