Really nice game tonight - this team is not going to let a game get away from them - they dominated Fredonia.
I must say I was very disappointed in the lack of students in their section, many empty seats. This was a playoff game! Maybe same students went to bb at 4pm and couldn't handle it. No doubt the place will be rocking next Saturday!

I have no idea anymore? Fredonia player on a partial break away, gets hooked( actual penalty), gets good shot off, and a penalty shot is called?
What happened to warrant the penalty shot?

I'm sure I have my "homer" colored glasses on, but I swear it was a partial breakway, and the defense came from the side with a definite hooking penalty.

What position? Badham never even touched him at all. Carr did give the guy a little whack and he dropped the stick looking for a call and he got it. I just think if you get all worried about not making any contact so you don't get a penalty, sometimes you get burned. When I think of undisciplined penalties, I am thinking of going out of your way for an unnecessary hit, or taking a shot at a guy that negates a power play for your team. Pretty much all of Oswego's penalties tonight were flow of the game type stuff that the refs deemed to be penalties.I understand what you are saying but you still can't put yourself in that position for the ref to call it. Also that was only 1 call what about the 4 others??

It was a long time since I watched WTOP for that long...straight (Movie Marathons while on campus) but I wanted to thank all you guys and girls that put in the long days work and effort to bring top quality college broadcasts from the ice twice and across the street in Laker Hall. Although I did not listen this time to WNYO (because I watched WTOP) I will also like to thank them because I know they had a lot of effort put into the day as well; and for all the away games this season that you guys and girls over there have spend numerous hours driving to and from to bring us the broadcast.

I'm just gonna throw this out there. An announced crowd of less than 2000 for a SUNYAC semifinal at the CC is awful. The student section was half full. I can understand not having a sellout every game, and I DO expect a sellout for "Whiteout II"...but you would expect more student support for games other than Plattsburgh. And to be perfectly honest, it was clear that a lot of the students that WERE there for "Whiteout I" weren't there for the hockey, since a lot of the students were gone by the time the third period started. I don't know what the difference is. Even last season there was much more student support. I was stunned to see the student section so empty for Potsdam last Saturday, but i chalked it up to "Whiteout hangover." But I was floored to see such a small student crowd last night.

...and if the Laker train keeps rolling you will have spring break for NCAA quarterfinals....plenty of tickets....and we might need volunteers for broadcast crew slots!!!

Crowd was awful, I guess three bucks is too much for students these days.
I felt that the penalty shot was one of those could have gone either way depending on how you interpret the rules. I have seen some guys hauled down on a lot better chances this year and not get the call and I have also seen a few in different games that weren't even on a breakaway get one so I don't think it was a bad call. It was the turning point in the game as Oswego came out a little sluggish but after that goal by Ross they took over the game and after Josepher scored it was never in doubt again.

While the Lakers may still be getting "some" penalties, they are not of the selfish undiciplined type they were taking in the first half. Besides that they are playing an anemic Cardinal PP which is fireing at an amazing 12% over the past 7 games. Having said that, the Oswego goal in Whiteout #1 was the only PP goal Plattsburgh has given up in the past 7 games including several 5-on-3 penalty kills. If Plattsburgh can get a flippn goal in the first period they have a chance, if they get into the 2nd period with a goose egg, it could be a long night. Oswego is for sure the better team, but Plattsburgh can hang and beat the Lakers if they can play relaxed and make a bounce or two. Still going to say 5-2 Lakers tho.

Gotta say the last game vs Oz platty didnt get any bounces....I always wondered why that happens sometimes in any sport,usually you can tell right from the start of the game.......
Lack of mental toughness and the pressure of the "lack of scoring". Combined with a total team defensive effort from the Lakers. Ive seen a lot of games from each team and the scoring chances are very similar, Oswego just finishes. Its been this way the whole season and Im not sure they can change that now.
