Re: Oswego & Plattsburgh - 2012 Whiteout redux 3-3-12
I got to say I kind of agree with Dukester (scary isn't it ole pall) and at the same time no. While I can see the point of "we have our eyes on the bigger prize" is no doubt the truth, Oswego is a National contender for sure, I don't agree that the game meant nothing to the team before that final whistle blew. One could argue it didn't mean anything to Plattsburgh either as just another SUNYAC title wasn't a do or die for the Cards just like the Lakers. I also don't bye the whole "we wern't the same team, our team played bad". The difference in the game was Plattsburgh A. Finished their chances and B. Took it to the Lakers. When Plattsburgh goes right at a team they can beat anyone. When they play with that defense first, play back, and lets play defense other teams find ways to either get back in games, or take away games from Plattsburgh. The best defense is not to let the other team in your zone, period. As soon as they play back on their heals, teams take advantage of it normally. But the last two minutes really showed that taking it to a team, instead of dumping and letting them come at you, works. Oswego got one really good rush and that was it because Plattsburgh continued to forecheck and control the puck. And a stick check penalty with 4 minutes to go? Wow. If you would have told me a week ago Plattsburgh would outshoot Oswego by almost double (and they missed a few in the first period), Plattsburgh would get 5 penalties to Oswego's 2, have a 3-1 lead late in the third, have a penalty called in the last 4 minutes down by 1, and still win....I'd ask for some of what ever you're on. Having said all that Oswego is still my tourny pick for 2012.
