Open Wheel Racing 2013...year of the driver swap!

Re: Open Wheel Racing 2013...year of the driver swap!

The latest I read sure doesn't sound all that great for Schumi. Medically induced coma and swelling of his brain, critical condition, fighting for his life.

Re: Open Wheel Racing 2013...year of the driver swap!

I really hope Schumi recovers ok, but it really doesn't sound good at all. 2nd surgery went well but lesions all around the brain...pretty scary stuff. No need for him to be racing Senna again just yet, c'mon man pull through

Re: Open Wheel Racing 2013...year of the driver swap!

So apparently the 2014 thread has disappeared. I'm not sure why but I'm not creating a new one. Screw it.

Anyway, I was going to post about how I like all the differences with noses on the 2014 F1 cars. :)

Re: Open Wheel Racing 2013...year of the driver swap!

I read an interesting tweet from Racer Magazine today:

Ugly though they may be, at least the F1 noses are distinctive from each other. Paint the cars all-white, and you could tell each apart.

I agree. The noses might not be pretty but at least there is a difference in the cars that is noticable. We have not seen that since the dorsal fin era a number of years ago.

And I was notified that my DVD of Rush shipped today! I know what my plan for Saturday afternoon is now!!

Anyone else finding RB troubles at the Jerez tests as hilarious as I am? :D

I like it, but they're just playing a game right now.

The worst nose I've seen is the Caterham so far. It really looks like you built the front end with legos. For the record, my 2 from scratch lego f1 cars look way better than that thing.

I was doing some reading this last weekend, and I realized that Red Bull was an evolution of Stewart/Ford, my favorite F1 team of all time. That fact had escaped me for some reason. So I have a little less hate for them. Plus I have a soft spot for German drivers. I still don't like Vettel, but I'm a tad more neutral now. I have to honor the history of the team.

The RB has an interesting looking radiator type looking thing in the nose. I wonder what they are up to.

Re: Open Wheel Racing 2013...year of the driver swap!

RB's problems are rather more significant than I was giving them credit for. McL and Merc seem to be the class of testing.

s/RB/Renault/ if I understand right. I don't think any of the Renault teams have been able to keep the car on the track.

Red Bull: 21 :D

I don't think there were any engine meltdowns at all, were there? I miss the days of the random giant white plumes, it added a certain level of anticipation/excitement to the race, whether it was F1 or CART. In other words, engine reliability is boring.

Re: Open Wheel Racing 2013...year of the driver swap!

any news on Schumi? I'm searching and can't find whether he's woken up and if so, has he displayed positive signs...I suppose it would be miraculous for him to recover and live as he did prior to the accident but well...I'm hoping for a miracle

More and more lately, Red Bull officials have been ripping on Renault. Though Renault admits they are looking externally for answers, we all know Newey designs are notorious for cooling issues. I wonder how much of this is Red Bull deflecting away from their own design problems...

The longer this waking up process goes on without any sort of news has me more and more worried this is not going to end well.
