Comings and goings.....If the rumors are true it sounds like Sutil is coming back to Force India and Rubens is going to Brazil to race stock cars.

I like that Sutil is coming back. I always thought he had good talent. I just hope he can keep from stabbing anyone this time around. It will be interesting to see if he can beat up on Di Resta like Hulkenberg did.

I am sad to see Rubens leave Indycar. I thought he brought up the talent level and would have liked to see what he could do in a second season. I understand his decision.....stay close to home and get paid or go off to the US and have to pay to drive.

Rubens is leaving Indycar?

Strong rumors is that he is going to drive stock car in Brazil. I guess he had been offered a "lot" of money to do so. Where is Indycar he would have to pay to drive (just like he did this past season).

Pay to drive just sucks, but it's a way of life now for some of the weaker teams.

According to Marchall Pruett it's a done deal the Rubens is going to drive Brazilian sotck cars. :(

so Ruebens is out but...Conor Daly *might* be in if Foyt can find the funding, and Tristan Vautier as well if Sam Schmidt can find the funding. either or both of these young drivers making the show will really soften the blow of losing Ruebens I think. both young guys with a ton of talent.

now if only Ganassi would steer Kyle Larson back to open wheel

side note - Randy Bernard did so many good things for this series and encouraging USAC (brian Clauson) guys to once again consider Indycar was one of the very best decisions he made.

this belskus (sp?) guy is dumber than paint...already the rumors are swirling, barfield is out barnhardt is back...that would be truly unforgiveable

I think Daly would be a good addition to the series, but I have to wonder why he's thinking of making the move. It seemed like he was on his way moving up the ranks in the F1 world. I wonder if the allure of Indy was it or if money was it?

If Barnhardt is back then I am completely done with Indycar. I will not watch a series in which race control puts itself above driver safety. Period.

$ for Daly but not he's changed his mind as an avenue opened up for Formula Renault for 2013. He *might* be angling for a Foyt ride for 2014, but I think that's if a path to F1 isn't opened by his performances this upcoming season.

I hope Daly comes to race Indycar (that is, if Indycar can begin to operate with some semblance of a plan with intelligence behind it: raise the HP, hire the press guy back (shunck?), no chase, no barnhart, no TG, angle to breaking the tv contract in favor of a national network or ESPN, offer an INDY 500 ride for the top 2 USAC guys annually, and fully funded, get rid of the ****ing fenders, etc)

other notes: I really want to go to F1 Austin - anyone in this thread or lurking here go? do you have recommendations on where to sit in terms of seeing the largest portion of the track, or where you could potentially see more than one passing zone?

another note...I just saw this quote on speed in the mailbag: (I knew that Ayrton Senna had tested an Indycar for Penske in 1992 and heard rumors that he was set to run INDY in 1994 w/Penske in a secret deal, but to read this (if in fact this is attributable to Ayrton) makes me really sad that he didn't take the opportunity in 1992) "Ayrton Senna after his first IndyCar test, ‎1992: "[The Indy car is] more drivable. Some years ago a friend of mine had a daughter who was very quiet. I only knew her as this slightly ungainly and totally uninteresting 16 year old. Now she dates one of the F1 drivers. Talk about being in the middle of the circus.! You can imagine what she looks like these days.

My sons got a PS3 for Christmas and the oldest when out and bought the F1 2012 PS3 game. I was lapping around Monza last night, pretty cool. I need to learn to use the brakes more and get through the 2 chicanes better. I forget what my best lap time was, not so good. My son had a 2 hr lead on me in terms of seat time and was about 10 seconds per lap faster on average when we raced head to head. A guy can burn through 2 hrs of evening time like that playing/watching.

I'm not too sure Frank Williams or the other competitors (with the exception of Grosjean) would agree....

Pastor Maldonado insists he has no intention of easing what he describes as an "extremely aggressive" driving style.

Like Romain Grosjean, Williams driver and 2012 Spanish Grand Prix winner Maldonado was heavily criticized last season for being involved in too many on-track incidents.

One analysis showed he was the driver penalized most often by the FIA in 2012.

But the 27-year-old Venezuelan insisted: "Every time I walk down a hallway in my house and see everything, I've got with this style. I think I should continue on this path.

"Yes, I've had run-ins with other drivers, not only now but in the past," Maldonado is quoted by Spain's Marca sports newspaper.

"But I have won in each of the categories in which I have competed.

"That gives me strength to keep going, because you can always improve," he added.

Take out a loan.

I went. It was great. It cost a fortune...

I got my seat off of StubHub in the premium Turn 15 Grandstands. You can see a lot, and I was surprised how much passing action took place in front of me. Turn 12 grandstands, where my friends already had tickets (before I decided to go) are great also if you aren't sitting too far down where you end up staring at the escape road, like my friends suffered.

The real reason Senna did that test was a negotiating ploy against F1 (can't remember if it was Williams or McLaren at the time), right down to the favorable quotes he gave. He had no real intention of ever running Indy car. He often said he considered the Indy 500 way too dangerous.

It was McLaren. He only ran three races for Williams. All in 1994. :(

You know guys like that just had a different brain than most of us. I had the chance to dice with Bill Scott some years ago in a Formula Ford and though I could keep up with him for a while he had so much focus and I didn't, that he eventually just pulled away. I just could not go full speed thru every corner, every time, like he could. It's a humbling experience.

It's not just focus, it's precision, the ability to hit the same mark every single lap. I figure that where I might miss by ten or twenty feet, they miss by one or two.
