Open Coaching Positions

Re: Open Coaching Positions

Yeah, this is shocking news. I had no idea myself.

From an email received yesterday morning:

[We are] pleased to announce that Brian Grady will be joining The Office of
Advancement on Friday, October 12th as our new Director of Parent Programs and
Athletics Development. Brian has seven years of experience in Higher Education
and most recently served as the Head Hockey Coach at Morrisville State College.
Brian is a Hamilton College Graduate, with a Master's Degree from the University
of Maine, and is a native of Clinton, NY. Please join me in welcoming Brian to
Utica College.

Re: Open Coaching Positions

Perhaps he was looking for something more Monday-Friday??? This is a head scratcher.

As an employee of SUNY Morrisonville, Brian Grady made $48,743 in 2011 (per SeeThroughNY), I am thinking he will make considerably more as Director of Parent Programs and Athletics Development at Utica.

Re: Open Coaching Positions

Granted a HC leaves for a better paying job, but part of me believes this part of a bigger picture. Maybe Morrisville hockey is on their way out.

When the MoVille Prez retired a year or two ago instead of appointing a new Prez, the state decided to save $$ and have the SUNYIT-Utica Prez do double duty
and be Prez of MoVille too.

He is also the former VPAA at Norwich

Sounds like what is going on @ Canton & Potsdam. The people up there are not too happy about that.

Ironic or not, the new head coach of Morrisville is: Kevin Krogol (Utica College '07)

<Interim Head Coach> with his first game being against: Utica.

Re: Open Coaching Positions

Can the new assistant make up his mind?

Morrisville Assistant Coach, Ted Fauss - "closed out his career with a two-year stint with the Utica Bulldogs and the Utica Blizzard of the Colonial Hockey League (CHL), playing from 1993 to 1995.

He also was a a stellar four-year playing career for the Clarkson Golden Knights.

Once a Techer, always a Techer -- and not the new assistant.
