What an amazing weekend! The Friars played solidly throughout the tournament and Mr. Gillies stood tall when he needed to. We sat six rows behind him in Boston and he put on quite the display. He is an amazing goalie and one I am glad we have had the opportunity to have for these past three years. Nate is an amazing coach who clearly is one of those guys who has the ability to work successfully with college student-athletes. As much as I have criticized, I do give Bob Driscoll credit for his work to bring Nate here (even with the help of a committee) and then to watch Nate do his thing. A textbook case of rebuilding a once stellar program that had hit rock bottom.

I am grateful for the opportunity to have my favorite team in the Frozen Four and then go and win the title! This is a trip that has created some wonderful lifelong memories for many family members and friends. My congratulations and thanks to this Providence College team. I couldn't help but think of so many long time fans who have left us along the way, some who were mentioned earlier, that would have loved to be part of it. My Dad comes to mind first, but also to Ralph, Jim, Jake, Penny, Frannie and Mike we had you with us.

The Providence College Friars are National Champions!

Leaman credited the "bounce" to a pair of his hockey friends who have passed away. One was his teammate/roommate, the other was Shawn Walsh. You have to believe Walsh would love to tweak BU, even from the grave

It's funny, but I have heard lots of claims for that bounce attributed to loved ones, i.e. Friar fan old timers, who have passed away. I think there was a full line of Friar fans in heaven guiding that dump in. :D

Still can't believe the run PC made at the end. One of the best last teams into the tournament. Congrats boys you played the best 4 games in a row I have ever seen. Well done.

Fred, I still think it was the guy who's picture you carried around all weekend.

Congrats again. Thanks for allowing the wife and I to share the joy with you.

Netman, has Ryan come down from the ceiling yet? I don't think I will ever forget the first thing he said when we got over to you guys "I've waited my whole life for this." Ah, the perspective of a 10 year old. :)

If more of those "Students" that were in the street after the win would go to the games the coffin would be a tough place to play, maybe the NC will bring some more to the games

One would hope, but sadly there were lots of empty seats today. Perhaps the celebration should have been Friday at midnight.

PC did a nice job with the ceremony and I rather enjoyed the hockey guy's comments. I must say it's fun being national champion. Nate said the trophy belongs to all of us. Maybe us old time fans could bring it home for a day - like the Stanley Cup. ;)
 
Is Cody the last Friar to go pro early.....been quite a stretch.

Before that Regan Kelly and go even a bit back Mike Farrell

PROVIDENCE – Just a few days after leading Providence College to the NCAA title, Jon Gillies has signed a three-year, entry-level contract with the Calgary Flames.
Gillies, a junior from South Portland, Maine, flew to Vancouver last night after PC’s championship celebration at Schneider Arena. The Flames, who drafted Gillies in the third round in 2012, open the Stanley Cup playoffs against the Canucks tonight.
Calgary attended the Flames' NHL Development Camp last year, but decided to delay his professional career to play his junior season in Providence. That decision played a significant role in PC's NCAA title.
Gillies made 49 saves in the national championship game against Boston University, and took home Frozen Four MVP honors.
