One Last Time at The Joe: 2016 Great Lakes Invitational

Generic Catchy Message
The 52nd GLI, and final one held at JLA before moving to the PizzArena, begins Thursday.

Tech and Michigan open the action at 3:30 followed by Western and State at 7. All games should be on either FSD or FSD+, and BTN2Go.

Only one player will be missing due to the WJC: Joe Cecconi from UM.

Tech has played UM and MSU already, both on the road going 0-1-1 at Yost and 1-1 at Munn. Excluding Ferris, WMU will be playing their first Michigan teams since the 2013 GLI.

With Michigan in the Orange Bowl Friday, I predict meager attendance, though it will still probably outdraw whoever shows up for the Big Ten Tournament in March.

State will bug whoever they play, but I'm predicting two losses for the Spartans this week. There have been some sparks this season but things really fell apart in the second half of the game against Northeastern last week in all facets of play and conduct.

The last two times that WMU was the invitee, the Broncos and Huskies played in the championship game.

Re: One Last Time at The Joe: 2016 Great Lakes Invitational

No more LLGA I see. Everything in the lower bowl is reserved now.

Lame.

With the way attendance has been, should've swung the other way and been all general admission.

Yup. ****ed either way, regardless of Thursday's result.

Win and play for the GLI title in front of no one because they're all watching Football (including myself).

Lose and play in front of no one in the third place game, failing to secure a big goal of winning the last GLI at JLA.

Tech up 2-0 after 2. Very one sided second period in favor of the Huskies.

Re: One Last Time at The Joe: 2016 Great Lakes Invitational

Lockwood for UM sent off with a major and game misconduct for head contact. Tech on the power play for the rest of the game.

That hit was pathetic. Even more pathetic were the FSN broadcasters who went out of their way to avoid saying this is the worst UM team in decades. They even had the balls to say "Red still has it." Has what? A pulse? UM was completely dominated all game, should have been 3-0 (or even 4-0).

Luckily for UM they'll probably get MSU in the...third place game!

Anybody know what happened to Reinke? I noticed they dropped Leibinger back with Watson part way through the game.

Maybe the Spartans will get lucky tonight, but they seem to have written into the rules that it must be a Tech-WMU championship.
