Ohio State Women's Hockey 2025-26

Final Score From Saturday, November 15th
Ohio State 7
Minnesota State 3

Amos, Dunne & Svensson Combine To Make Our Day

Three of the best players in Women's College Hockey roared down the ice sheet. The rush ended in a picture perfect goal that certainly made my day. I'll bet it made your day too. And if Clint Eastwood is ever foolish enough to challenge these Women, they'll make his day as well.

See the #1 Star(s) for the rest of the story.

Three Stars of the Game: Decidedly Unofficial & Just For Fun
Minnesota State Honorable Mention: Ava Guillemette
On a day in which Ohio State dominated the Face-Off Circle, Ava went a very respectable 8 for 17. #28 also had the Secondary Assist on the initial Maverick Goal. Overall, Guillemette was a force to be reckoned with up and down the ice.

Ohio State Honorable Mention: Sanni Vanhanen
Sanni posted a Hat Trick of Assists. That was the foundation of a very solid Saturday performance.

#3 Star: Makayla Moran, Minnesota State
Makayla pounded the puck into the Buckeye net for the first Maverick Tally. 'Twas a great individual effort that initially appeared to be Unassisted. As on Friday, Mankato pulled even at 1 after surrendering an Early Bird Goal.

Overall, Moran's +/- was Even. Not bad on a day when your team loses by 4 goals.

#2 Star: Sara Swiderski, Ohio State
Another 3 point outing for Sara, giving her 6 points on the weekend. This time Swiderski provided a goal and two assists. Very solid production.

But do you know which stat really leaps off the page? Sara was +5 on Saturday. That didn't just lead all players. It dwarfed all players.

#1 Star: (tie) Jocelyn Amos, Ohio State; Joy Dunne, Ohio State; and Hilda Svensson, Ohio State
We honor Jocelyn, Joy & Hilda for pulling off one of the best goals of the season. When scored, it appeared to be an insurance goal. Ultimately it matured into the GWG, as a result of the Mankato comeback.

Emma Peschel had just scored to put the Buckeyes up 3-1. Riding the adrenaline from the Peschel tally, the three top stars charged forward. For a discouraging moment, it looked like the rush might sputter. But Svensson was having none of that. With quick-thinking, precise placement, Hilda nudged the puck ahead to Dunne. Next came Joy's cross-slot pass to Amos, beating the remaining 'D' and putting Jocelyn in alone on the Mankato keeper. Jocelyn skillfully got the keeper to commit, and pulled the puck across the slot. Then came a backhand tap-in to fill the waiting net.

Naturally the contributions of our Saturday heroes goes well beyond that single goal, amazing as it was. Consider:

Amos had 5 SOG. Along with Kassidy Carmichael, that led all players. Jocelyn had an extraordinary evening in the Face-Off Circle, going 23 of 28. That's a win rate of 82.1%.

The rematch gave Joy a turn to be the Early Bird. Dunne broke the ice at 2:26 of the 1st Period.

As it happens, Hilda knows a little something about Face-Offs as well, going 7 of 9. Svensson's win rate? 77.8%. Outstanding, just like the Amos number.

This trio of players comprised the starting forward line. Will this line remain intact for the long haul? Only the coaching brain trust knows for sure. But my heart wants more.

In a battle of top five teams, the Buckeyes outlasted the Bulldogs of Minnesota-Duluth by a final score of 3-1. Ohio State got a goal from Joy Dunne to take a 1-0 lead into the first intermission. Maxine Cimoroni scored for Ohio State to give the Bucks a 2-0 lead heading into the final intermission. UMD's Rae Mayer scored early in the third period to cut the lead to 2-1 and make this one real interesting. Joy Dunne added an empty-net goal late in the game to seal it for Ohio State at 3-1. Ohio State outshot the Bulldogs 53-25 in this one. Eve Gascon was outstanding in net for the Bulldogs, stopping 50 of the 52 shots she faced in the loss. Hailey MacLeod was impressive in net for Ohio State in this one as she stopped 24 of the 25 shots she faced to get the win. The two teams will wrap up their series tomorrow.

Ohio State completed the sweep of Minnesota-Duluth earlier today by a final score of 4-1. The Buckeyes got goals from Brooke Disher and Sanni Vanhanen to take a 2-0 lead into the first intermission. Ohio State would get two more goals from Joy Dunne and Jordyn Petrie to take a 4-0 lead before UMD's Danielle Burgen found the back of the net late in the second period to make the score 4-1 at the final intermission. Neither team could light the lamp in the third period so that is how it ended. The Bulldogs outshot the Buckeyes in this one, 32-31. Buckeye Backstop Genny Klein stopped 31 of the 32 shots she faced to get the win. I like the depth we have at the goaltender position as all three tenders have wins this season. Eve Gascon started in net for UMD and stopped 27 of the 31 shots she faced in the loss. Ohio State will head to Arlington, VA, next weekend to participate in the D1 in DC Tournament. The Bucks will take on Clarkson Friday, then Colgate Saturday. Minnesota-Duluth will be off next weekend for the Thanksgiving Holiday, then travel to Bemidji State to take on the Beavers on 12/5 - 12/6.
